Visalia man arrested in connection with deadly shooting

A 30-year-old Visalia will face murder charges after gunning down another man Saturday night, according to police.

At 9:20 pm, officers were called to the 300 block of Northeast Third Avenue for reports of gunshots fired in the area. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers say they responded within a minute of the 911 call. The victim was rushed to Kaweah Health Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

The victim's name hasn't been released.

Investigators found the alleged shooter not far from the home — Carlos Ayala. It's unclear what led detectives to the 30-year-old man.

During the initial investigation, officers learned that Ayala’s mother had previously been in a "disturbance" with the victim. Ayala confronted the victim and shot him multiple times following the fight, according to detectives. Investigators said they also recovered the firearm believed to be used in the slaying.

Ayala was booked into jail on suspicion of homicide. He is expected to be arraigned on murder charges Tuesday.
