May 31

Diomede Sierra picked up his first career win as the Visalia Rawhide defeated the Inland Empire 66ers by a score of 6-4. Sierra pitched a career-high 5 ⅓ innings while striking out five batters.

Inland Empire took the early 3-0 lead through three innings of play.

Visalia's Deyvison De Los Santos drove in two runs with a double into right field in the third inning. In the fifth, S.P. Chen hit his second homerun of the season to tie it up. Visalia scored two more that inning to take the 5-3 lead.

Inland’s David Calabrese hit his second homerun of the season to cut their deficit in half, but Rawhide (14-32) held on to win their 14th game of the season. Miguel Gil threw three scoreless innings in his California League debut to earn the save.

May 14

The Visalia Rawhide (10-23) defeated the Grizzlies by a score of 9-5 for the second win of the series and 10th win of the season.

Jordan Lawlar and Wilderd Patino both had multiple hits in the contest and combined for half of the Rawhide hits. They also combined to score five runs tonight.

The Grizzlies took the early lead when Hunter Goodman hit a three-run homerun. After four innings of play, Fresno led 5-2. In the fifth, the Rawhide sent 10 batters to the plate and score five runs to take the lead 7-5.

Rawhide used three pitchers. Yaifer Perdomo, the starter, was not a part of the decision and gave up all five runs to the Grizzlies in the 3⅓ innings. Jose Alcantara earned his second win of the season after throwing 1⅔ scoreless innings. Yilber Diaz made is league debut and earned his first career save by throwing four scoreless innings.

May 13

The Visalia Rawhide had a two-run lead through eight innings, but he Grizzlies scored four in the ninth to pick up the win. Fresno improves to 3-1 on the six-game series.

Grizzlies took an early 2-0 lead in the third inning with Peniel Otano on the mound. The Rawhide starting pitcher gave up two runs (one earned) over a season-high  5.1 innings of work. Jordan Lawlar scored the first run for the Rawhide when Grizzlies starting pitcher Brayan Castillo balked with Lawlar on third.

In the fifth inning, Jean Walters and Lawlar each picked up an RBI single with two outs to take the lead. In the eighth, Shane Muntz hit his third homerun of the season and gave the Rawhide an insurance run.

The two-run lead was not enough for the Rawhide. Rael Santos gave up a three-run blast to Juan Guerrero with two outs for his first blown save and second loss of the season.

May 12

The Visalia Rawhide defeated the Fresno Grizzlies in walk-off fashion.

In the ninth, Jacen Roberson reached second base on an error by the first baseman. He scored the winning run when Oscar Santos doubled down the left field line as the Rawhide won 4-3 and snapped the two-game losing streak.

Avery Short and McCade Brown did not give up a run until the fifth inning. Aiverson Rodriguez drove in the first run of the game for the Grizzlies to take a 1-0 lead. GJ Hill tied up the game in the next half inning with his second home run of the season.

Fresno’s Hunter Goodman and Visalia’s Deyvison De Los Santos both hit two-run blasts in the sixth inning to drive in the second and third runs of the game for their respective teams.

Rawhide look to even the series Friday at Valley Strong Ballpark. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.

May 11

The Visalia Rawhide played into extra innings for the third time this season but fell to the Grizzlies in the 12th inning by a score of 6-3.

Josh Swales, the Rawhide starting pitcher, threw a career-high five innings. He gave up one run off a Braiden Ward homerun in the third inning. Jacen Roberson hit his second homerun in as many games. This solo shot tied the game in the seventh inning at 2-2.

Rawhide had chances to score in extra innings but could not capitalize. The Grizzlies scored four runs in the 12th inning, although all runs are unearned to pitcher Alex Valdez. Rawhide scored one in the bottom of the 12th inning, but it was not enough to extend the game.

Rawhide will have Avery Short on the mound for Game 3 Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

May 10

The Rawhide lost to the Fresno Grizzlies 11-9 after a back-and-forth game. Rawhide tied the game twice after being down my multiple runs but could not finish the game on top.

Rawhide scored nine runs off nine hits, three of them were homeruns. Wilderd Patino had his first multi-homerun game of his career. Jacen Roberson hit his second homerun of the season in the ninth inning. All three Rawhide homeruns were with the bases empty.
