Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is renting an apartment in Des Moines as his campaign plans to shift resources to Iowa in the coming weeks.

A campaign official confirmed to the Des Moines Register that Ramaswamy had rented the apartment, first reported by The Washington Post, as the entrepreneur and author prepares for more frequent visits and looks for momentum in the first caucus state. He stayed at the apartment amid a series of campaign stops in late October.

During recent stops in Iowa, Ramaswamy has indicated the future of his campaign rests solely on the results of the Iowa Caucuses.

"The only chance we have is Iowa," he said in Oskaloosa on Oct. 21. "If I win Iowa, I'm your next president."

The Des Moines Register/NBC News/Mediacom Iowa Poll released Monday found that 4% of respondents said Ramaswamy was their first choice for president, tying him for fifth place in the poll with former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Trump remains the Republican frontrunner, with Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis tied for second place.

Ramaswamy is the latest Republican candidate to begin funneling his campaign resources toward Iowa. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has over the last couple months doubled down on the first caucus state, pledging to visit all 99 counties in what he called "the only way" to win Iowa.

And U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, struggling to gain momentum, is going "all in" on Iowa, opening a West Des Moines headquarters, shifting ad buys and campaigning weekly until the caucuses.

Ramaswamy has qualified for the third presidential debate on Nov. 8, alongside DeSantis, Haley and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
