VMI honors alum killed in California helicopter crash

LEXINGTON, Va. (WFXR) — Corps of Cadets from the Virginia Military Institute gathered to remember the life of Capt. Jack Casey on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

Casey, who tragically passed away during a helicopter crash during a training flight in California on Feb. 7, will be remembered at VMI for his spirit of leadership, courage, and dedication.

During the gathering, several members of his class were in attendance while VMI’s Regimental Band played the traditional military bugle call ‘Taps’ and ‘Amazing Grace’ to honor his memory.

VMI says they will continue to honor his legacy by embodying the ‘brother rat’ spirit he embraced and the impact he made on the entire community.
