Vogue names ‘breathtaking’ Oregon beach among best in the US

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – For those needing inspiration for their next beach getaway, Vogue released a list of the top beaches in the United States — naming one destination on Oregon’s north coast among the best.

According to Vogue, some of the best beaches in the country have a variety of traits from “pristine sand,” and “azure waters,” to “staggering” sights.

The magazine named Oregon’s Cannon Beach among the best, describing the beach as a “breathtaking stretch of coast,” thanks to a variety of sight-seeing, including the 235-foot-tall Haystack Rock created 17 million years ago.

“At low tide, you can walk right up to the massive rock to spot sea stars and giant green anemones. There’s also a diverse ecosystem here, meaning whale-watching, elk sightings, and birdwatching are all on the menu,” Vogue said.

El Niño to La Niña transition expected, impacts likely for the PNW

“The beach sits beside a charming village with small breweries and eateries with ocean views, making it a well-rounded destination for your beach day,” Vogue added.

Vogue also named Ruby Beach, Washington among the best, calling it a “quintessential Pacific Northwest coastline.”

“The beach takes its name from the ruby-hued crystals in the sand, which give it a reddish tint. Also worth noting is that the sunset here is unrivaled—grab an evening beverage and perch on one of many logs to watch golden hour wash over the rugged landscape,” Vogue said.

Honokalani Beach, Maui, Pfeiffer Beach, California, Caladesi Island, Florida, and Assateague Island in Maryland, and Virginia also made Vogue’s list.
