NBC's "The Voice" cut nearly half of its contestants Tuesday night, but a singer from Clifton made the top 13.

Hailey Mia, 14, won the Wildcard Instant Save to secure her spot after getting the most votes in a head-to-head competition against four other singers.

Mia sang Christina Perri's "Jar of Hearts," and not only did it impress the viewers who voted her into the last 13, it impressed her coach, Kelly Clarkson.

"I remember being 14 years old, and I didn’t sound like you," Clarkson remarked after Mia's performance.

Mia, the youngest contestant on the show, joins three other members of Team Clarkson in the top 13. The other three teams, Team Legend, Team Grande and Team Shelton, each have three contestants left on the show.

Tuesday's episode saw the season's biggest cut yet, with seven contestants shown the door.

Mia originally auditioned with the song "You Broke Me First," by Tate McRae, and got both Clarkson and Ariana Grande to turn their chairs around. Mia was 13 at the time of her audition.

According to her bio on NBC.com, Mia taught herself how to read music and play piano after having surgery to correct deteriorating vision in her right eye when she was 8 years old.

"She participates in choir and talent shows and is getting ready to attend a technical high school where she'll get to take courses in vocal performance," her bio reads.

North Jersey contestants have made their marks on "The Voice" before. Past local contestants include Wé McDonald, a third-place finisher, and Carolina Rial from Ridgefield.
