'The Voice' contestant is performing at Louisville's airport to mark new Austin service

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Allegiant Air's nonstop service from Louisville to Austin, Texas, begins Thursday, and "The Voice" contestant Kinsey Rose will perform live in Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport to mark the inaugural flight to the Live Music Capital of the World.

Rose, a Louisville native who attended Northern Kentucky University, competed on this most recent Season 21 of NBC's "The Voice," getting a spot on coach Kelly Clarkson's team.

She'll be at Gate A10 in Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday morning to entertain travelers who can now travel direct to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, according to a news release.

Allegiant announced in June the new service between the two cities, with the Las Vegas-based, low-cost air carrier offering special one-way fares on the new route that are as low as $39.

The year-round service will feature flights twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, using an Airbus A320 with 186 seats, according to the summer announcement from Louisville airport officials and Allegiant.

Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport is also launching two other nonstop routes to Florida this week courtesy of Spirit Airlines. The direct routes on Spirit go to the Sunshine State cities of Fort Myers and Tampa.
