For every freedom there is a corresponding responsibility

After listening to and reading the news recently I have come to two conclusions. Neither our governor nor surgeon general have a grasp on history. By his remarks on testing only those with symptoms for COVID-19 Dr. Joseph Ladapo clearly shows he either missed or failed the courses covering asymptomatic spread. He should at least be familiar with the story of Mary "Typhoid Mary" Mallon for infecting 53 people (three of whom died) between 1900 and 1907 and being quarantined twice for refusing to accept her role in spreading the disease. She spent the last 30 years of her life in quarantine at a hospital on an island in New York Harbor.

It is sad and scary that Gov. Ron DeSantis and a number of his fellow Republicans have fallen for Donald Trump's Big Lie campaign. Joseph Goebbels (Adolf Hitler's propaganda minister) was correct when he said “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”

I'd like to remind all the people yelling about their freedoms that for every freedom they claim, there is a corresponding responsibility. And one of those is to be well informed about a subject before shooting off their mouth.
