Offer solution when complaining

There are a lot of people complaining about inflation and gas prices. What is your solution? Oil companies are making huge profits. They can't find enough workers to bring in more supplies. Here's a solution. Buy an electric car now or a couple years ago, when there were bigger tax breaks. What can President Joe Biden do? Give an answer.

With inflation, it is linked to supply and demand. If demand is high, then prices will go up. People were at home for two years and are now getting out and doing things. Less demand and prices go down. You may argue supply chain, but an article in the May 25 Ledger says some retailers now have bloated inventories. What do you want Biden to do? Give an answer.

He has flown in two cargo planes of baby formula. Why did we have to have the government do that instead of the private sector do it?

I just ask that you not complain without offering any solution.

Short-term wants trump long-term needs

Anyone remember John Welch, chief executive officer of General Electric.

Welch was famous for his relentless focus on maximizing quarterly dividends, at the expense of investing in long-term stability and profitability. He will go down in history as an environmental disaster whose short-term goals destroyed GE.

Is our country charging down the same destructive path, as the far left duels it out with the far right, at the expense of a declining aging middle?

Not many hard-working Americans will be able to claim that they were as financially or socially successful as their parents. Today short-term wants routinely trump long-term needs.

Republicans have long opposed socialism and the creation of an entitlement society! They fought hard against the creation of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and Affordable Care. The goal is to sunset these socialist programs that are going broke. In the business world pensions have been replaced with 401ks. The goal is to limit or eliminate liabilities.

Democrats on the other hand don’t see themselves as a disposable liability and want to Build Back America Better, distracted by wedge issues like woke, abortion, guns, inflation and climate change, which are all interrelated in the fight for command and control.

We are at a crossroad. Are you a liability?

Government policy puts health of children in jeopardy

The recent announcement by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service that it will no longer provide funding for schools that do not allow transgender students to use the bathrooms of the gender they claim to be will force school districts to choose between feeding children or placing their health in jeopardy by accepting a belief based on emotion rather than science.

Embracing the belief that a man can become a woman or vice versa is tantamount to announcing that alchemy has supplanted science. Forcing people to tolerate such insanity is no different than the Spanish Inquisition and based on what the Biden Administration is proposing will no doubt be as punitive.

Our children deserve better than being subjected to such beliefs as we demand or facing the consequences of government policies.
