Volcano Vista girls basketball buzzer beater gaining national attention

The Volcano Vista girls’ basketball team won the 5A State Championship with a buzzer beater on Saturday, and since knocking that in, Natalia Chavez has been having quite the week. Chavez's life has transformed overnight, her winning shot going viral and the Volcano Vista junior tells KOAT that she’s still in shock. Chavez added that the inbounds was designed to go to whoever got open, knowing time was running out in a tie game in overtime. She let it fly from half court and did her best to get that ball in the basket and she did. The hawks are 5A state champions and since then, Chavez’s been getting texts, doing interviews, amazed by it all. “Anybody could've hit it on our team. It just happened to be in my hands at the right time,” Chavez said. “I've watched it a million times. I've watched it from every angle in the Pit. So, it's just crazy to see everybody's reaction when I actually hit the shot." Chavez will be a senior next year. So how does she top this? In her words, the
