Volkswagen Ameo launched at Rs 5.14 lakh; deliveries starting July

Volkswagen has announced the prices for the Ameo. The compact sedan is priced starting Rs 5.14 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), undercutting the Polo hatchback and most of its rivals in the segment. The Ameo will be available only with the petrol engine at the moment and deliveries will commence in July.
Based on the Polo hatchback, the Ameo is the first sub-four metre compact sedan from Volkswagen. It uses the 1.2-litre three-cylinder MPI petrol engine producing 74bhp and 110Nm of torque, mated to the five-speed transmission powering the front wheels.
The top-spec Ameo gets all the features from the Vento including cruise control, rain sensing wipers, rear AC vents, touch-screen music system with mirror link and static cornering headlamps. Also, ABS and front airbags are standard features from the base trim.
The Volkswagen Ameo competes with Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest and Ford Figo Aspire in the compact sedan segment. Here is the link to our first ride impression of the Volkswagen Ameo.
