Volleyball: Tough stretch for Watertown continues with another 3-1 loss

A tough stretch of home games against rated teams continued Thursday for Watertown with a 3-1 (25-19, 25-16, 21-25 and 25-13) loss to second-rated Class AA Sioux Falls Washington in the Civic Arena.

The Arrows, now 12-10 on the season, also lost 3-1 at home Tuesday to No. 5 Sioux Falls Lincoln and will host No,. 4 Sioux Falls Jefferson on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Washington improved to 17-2 with Thursday's win.

Grace Corey's four aces, 23 assists and eight digs led Watertown. Other Arrow leaders included Paige McAreavey, three aces; Kendall Paulson, five kills and 14 figs; Eve Hauger, nine kills and one solo block and three block assists; Emery Thury, eight kills and three block assists; Emily Tisher, six kills and three block assists; Miranda Falconer, 10 assists and 14 digs; and Maddy Rohde, 12 digs.

Arlington 3, Deubrook Area 2: The Cardinals (16-9, 5-2) rallied to win the Dakota Valley Conference match 25-13, 18-25, 25-27, 25-19 and 15-7 over the Dolphins (13-9, 4-4).

Tanaya Weiss delivered 45 assists and 24 digs for Arlington. Morgan Larsen contributed 16 kills, Natalie Burns 14 kills, Dani Carlson 24 digs, Harley Johnson two aces and Addie Steffensen two blocks.

Brooke Koppatschek recorded 25 assists and four aces, Miranda Moravetz 15 kills, Zoey Molengraaf 11 kills, Kyarra Blum 10 kills, Ellie Koenig 17 assists and 32 digs and Delaney Pedersen 32 digs for Deubrook Area.

Milbank 3, Tiospa Zina 2: The Bulldogs (13-8, 6-2) outlast the Wambdi 25-19, 24-26, 20-25, 25-14 and 15-5 in the Northeast Conference match behind nine kills and five block assists from Claire Snaza, 15 kills from Rachel Schulte, 34 assists and four block assists from Averie Engebretson, nine kills from SKyler Skoog and five kills and 15 digs from Laney Forrette.

Tiospa Zina fell to 7-15 and 1-6.

Florence-Henry 3, Wilmot 0: Trinity Watson's 14 kills, three aces and two blocks sparked Florence-Henry to the Eastern Coteau Conference win (25-18, 25-8 and 25-14) over Wilmot.

Reese Schmidt chipped in with 29 assists, two aces and 23 digs, Caylin Kelly 11 kills and 22 digs and Taylor Watson two aces for the Falcons (19-7 overall and 3-0 in the ECC).

Wilmot slipped to 6-15 overall.

Hamlin 3, Britton-Hecla 0: Hamlin (19-3 overall) remained unbeaten in the Northeast Conference at 8-0 by winning 25-14, 25-17 and 25-9.

Kami Wadsworth tallied 30 assists and three aces, Marissa Bawdon four aces and three block assists, Ally Abraham 13 kills, Addie Neuendorf nine kills, Gracelyn Leiseth three block assists, Ava Prouty 13 digs and Grace Opdahl 10 digs for the Chargers.

Britton-Hecla slipped to 5-12 and 1-7.

Redfield 3, Webster Area 0: Camryn Rohlfs' 18 assists and four aces guided Redfield to the 25-20, 25-8 and 25-18 Northeast Conference win. Katie Rozell added two aces, seven kills, two solo blocks and one block assist; Gracie Fast six kills and Chloe Zens and Ashlyn Clausen six digs apiece for the Pheasants (15-11, 7-1).

Webster Area (12-10, 5-4) was led by Baylie Somsen, 6-6 serving with six assists; Erin Sannes, 8-9 serving; Gracie Cadwell, 7-8 serving with three aces and 11 digs; Katie Braun, six assists; Kara Kwasniewski, seven kills; Jersey Johnson, 12 digs; and Payton Snell, two kills.

Groton Area 3, Deuel 0: The Tigers (8-10, 4-4) won the Northeast Conference match 25-16, 25-21 and 25-18 by getting five aces, 13 kills and nine digs from Sydney Leicht; four aces and eight digs from Carly Guthmiller; two aces and 27 assists from Liz Fliehs; eight kills and nine digs from Lydia Meier; six kills from Anna Fjeldheim; and three solo blocks and one block assist from Aspen Johnson.

Josie Anderson paced Deuel (5-15, 2-6) with seven kills, eight assists and 13 digs. Harley Hennings added six kills, Kayden Russell 10 assists, Annika Kriz 11 digs and Emma Hamann nine digs.

Baltic 3, Sioux Valley 0: Baltic pushed its record to 16-5 with the 25-16, 25-16 and 25-17 win.

Peyton Krull smacked nine kills, Daynica Witzel and Bailey Tveldal eight each and Emma Van Regenmorter and Alys Dobbins seven each for the Bulldogs. Telvedal also had 17 assists and 13 digs and Wendland 20 digs. Wetzel and Madison Kennedy each made 15 digs.

Landree Wilson notched seven kills and 10 digs, Kaedyn Sapp 15 digs and Ashley Bjerke 12 assists for Sioux Valley (15-8).

Clark-Willow Lake 3, Sisseton 2: The Cyclones took the Northeast Conference match 25-20, 22-25, 25-23, 15-25 and 15-8 to improve to 7-12 overall and 2-5 in the NEC. Sisseton fell to 6-14 and 2-7.

Sami Brenden made 15 assits, Kaylee Tormanen seven kills, Shay Michalski six kills, Avery Lee three aces and nine digs, Sara Thonvold two aces and Hannah Heiman 10 digs for Clark-Willow Lake.

Tri-State 3, Waubay-Summit 1: Tri-State (8-14) won the Eastern Coteau Conference match 25-17, 25-14, 17-25 and 25-21 over the Mustangs (2-17).

Waubay-Summit leaders included Kylee Marx, nine kills and three digs; Liza Purdy, six kills; Ava Breske, seven kills and four solo blocks; Katie Karst, four kills and two aces; and Katie Minder, two aces.

Dell Rapids St. Mary 3, De Smet 0: The Cardinals swept the Dakota Valley Conference match 25-18, 25-16 and 25-22. St. Mary is now 10-9 overall and 3-4 in the DVC and De Smet 9-12 and 1-6.

Ella Griffin produced 17 kills, Brianna Griffin 10 kills, Maya Heinitz nine kills and 12 digs, Megan Geraets seven kills and three blocks, Josie Baumberger and Madala Hanson each eight digs and Brianna Lindeman five aces, 33 assists and eight digs for St. Mary.

De Smet's leaders included Jacie McCune with three aces and five digs, Olivia Johnson two aces and five blocks, Emma Albrecht 12 assists, Jada Burke seven kills and 13 digs, Hazel Luethmers five kills and nine blocks, Cori Birkel five blocks and Ella Poppinga six digs.
