Volleyball: Tournament results, brackets for the Section 9 playoffs

The Section 9 volleyball tournament is officially set and the action starts on Monday, Oct. 31.

The top seeds this year include defending Class AA champion Pine Bush, defending Class A champion Cornwall, Section 9 newcomer Our Lady of Lourdes, Chester and Class D defending state champion Mount Academy.

Chester received its first-ever No. 1 seeding, according to coach Michael Doucette. The program is in its eighth year.

Quarterfinals

Tuesday, Nov. 1

No. 4 Valley Central 3, No. 5 Washingtonville 0: Autumn Singleton tallied 14 kills to lead host Valley Central to a three-set victory (25-16, 25-17, 25-20). Abby Reiber added 29 assists, one ace and two digs. Hiromi Guteriez contributed two assists, two aces and 15 digs. Melanie Anglin had 10 kills, one ace and six digs. For Washingtonville, Lana O'Sullivan tallied eight kills, one ace, one dig and three blocks. Kassidy Hardy added two kills, one ace and three digs. Michaela Stack contributed nine assists, one ace and four digs.

No. 3 Warwick 3, No. 6 Kingston 1: Fiona Egan tallied 13 kills and six aces to lead host Warwick (13-5) to a four-set victory (25-21, 23-25, 25-18, 25-18). Hallie Hanson added 40 assists, five aces and three blocks. Abby Tobin contributed 10 kills. Erin Smith had 13 kills and three aces. For Kingston, Ryleigh Purvis, tallied nine kills, 17 assists, 20 digs, two aces and two blocks. Purvis moved into fifth place for assists leaders in Kingston CSD volleyball history. Nadya Gorton added four kills, 12 assists and four aces. Alannah Rolph contributed 18 kills and one ace.

Thursday, Nov. 3

No. 2 Monroe-Woodbury 3, No. 3 Warwick 1: Kacie Burke tallied six kills, five aces and four digs to lead host Monroe-Woodbury to a four-set victory (26-24, 25-17. 19-25, 25-14). Nina Flores added four kills and five digs. Sofia Salazar contributed nine kills and one dig. For Warwick, Fiona Egan tallied nine kills, seven digs and one block. Jill Ferris added 29 assists and four aces. Abby Tobin had nine kills.

No. 1 Pine Bush 3, No. 4 Valley Central 0: Sienna Hunter tallied 22 kills, two assists, four aces and seven digs to lead host Pine Bush (15-4) to a three-set victory (26-24, 25-15, 25-22). Monica Iliora added 17 kills, three assists, four aces and six digs. Courtney Meyer contributed 11 kills, three assists, five aces and six digs. Madeline Magsamen had one kill, 12 assists, three aces and 19 digs. For Valley Central, Abby Reiber tallied one kill, 21 assists and two digs. Hiromi Gutierez added two assists, one ace and 17 digs. Autumn Singleton contributed eight kills. Melanie Anglin had nine kills and five digs.

No. 4 Roosevelt 3, No. 5 Beacon 0: Alana Rider tallied nine kills, three aces, 10 service points and nine digs to lead host Roosevelt to a three-set victory (25-21, 25-20, 25-19). Sanaiya Whitted added seven kills. Emily Conniff contributed three kills. Dafina Berisha had seven aces, 15 service points, one block and two kills. Marina Scott added four fills, 11 assists, three aces and nine service points.

No. 3 Minisink Valley 3, No. 6 Goshen 0: Taylor Jennings tallied eight kills and three blocks to lead host Minisink Valley to a three-set victory (25-13, 25-22, 25-22). Kayla Wasserman added seven kills, one assist, six aces and seven digs. Chloe MarcoVechio contributed 18 assists, two aces and four digs. Abby Stevens had 13 assists, two aces and five digs. For Goshen, Ana Loter tallied 11 kills, 14 assists, four digs and one block. Nica Chan added 10 assists and 16 digs.

No. 2 Wallkill 3, No. 3 Minisink Valley 0: Grace Mesuch tallied two kills, 18 assists and two digs to lead host Wallkill (16-1) to a three-set victory (25-17, 25-21, 25-23). Regan Moeykens added 11 kills, five digs and two blocks. Madison Stauss contributed one kill, 11 assists and two digs. Genevieve Pollock had seven kills and 12 digs. Madisen Noelizaire added eight kills and two blocks. For Minisink Valley, Kayla Wasserman tallied five aces, eight kills and seven digs. Abby Stevens added 10 assists. Hana Hassan contributed 12 digs and two aces. Adisyn Bobbish had five kills and one ace.

No. 1 Cornwall 3, No. 4 Roosevelt 0: Alex Hinchcliff tallied six aces, nine kills, one block and seven digs to lead host Cornwall (14-0) to a three-set victory (25-10, 25-17, 26-24). Kristina Garcia added two aces, one kill, 11 assists and eight digs. Victoria Hinchcliff contributed one ace, eight assists and four digs.

Vanessa Seymour added 28 assists, two service aces and five digs. Abby Anderson contributed four kills and four blocks. Alex Zangerle and Madison Tegeler combined for 19 kills and three service aces.

No. 4 Highland 3, No. 5 James I. O'Neill 0: Katie Dauenheimer tallied 10 kills and two aces to lead host Highland to a four-set victory (15-25, 25-21, 25-16, 26-17). Christina Johnston added eight kills and three aces. Daniella Grant contributed five kills, three digs and two aces. Marissa Incorvaia had 20 assists and three aces. Cadence Meltz added eight digs and five aces. For O'Neill, Audrey Elisando tallied 27 assists, six kills and 21 digs. Lauren Favier added four aces and 13 digs. Timeran Leary contributed four kills, four blocks and three digs.

No. 2 Port Jervis 3, No. 7 Marlboro 2: Lexi Tufano tallied 38 assists, two aces, 12 points, one kill and six digs to lead host Port Jervis (13-5) to a five-set victory (23-25, 25-20, 25-15, 15-25, 15-8). Addison McElroy added 21 kills, six digs, five blocks and two aces. Reagan Myers contributed six kills and five blocks. Ali Oosterom had six kills and one block. Madison Balmos added 10 dig sand two aces. For Marlboro (7-8), Madi Callihan tallied five aces, 10 kills and six blocks. Katie Thorne added six kills and 15 digs. Kalista Birkenstock contributed three aces and 21 digs. Emma Jackson had four kills and seven digs.

No. 3 Spackenkill 3, No. 6 Red Hook 0: Ava Greer tallied 22 assists and two aces to lead host Spackenkill to a three-set victory (25-11, 25-15, 25-11). Priscilla McReynolds added 11 kills, four aces and one block. Katie Kaylor contributed five kills and three aces. For Red Hook, Jordan Lee tallied one ace, five assists, six kills and 11 digs. Mia Merino added one assist, two kills, eight digs and two blocks. Leah Merino contributed three kills and 14 digs.

No. 3 Spackenkill 3, No. 2 Port Jervis 0: Visiting Spackenkill prevailed to a three-set victory (25-15, 25-17, 25-18). For Port Jervis, Lexi Tufano tallied 16 assists and three digs. Ali Oosterom added five kills. Reagan Myers contributed three kills and two blocks. Madison Balmos had eight digs and six points.

No. 1 Our Lady of Lourdes 3, No. 4 Highland 0: Alex Zangerle tallied 17 kills to lead host Our Lady of Lourdes to a three-set victory. Abby Anderson added four kills and two blocks. Vanessa Seymour dished out 33 assists, while Anneliese Martinez had 25. Molly Quirk contributed eight kills.

No. 1 Chester 3, No. 4 Dover 0: Trinity Delgado tallied five aces, eight kills and eight blocks to lead host Chester (14-6) to a three-set victory (25-15, 25-19, 25-14). Julie Malone added 11 assists and two aces. Skylar Dewhirst contributed six assists, two aces, one kill and one dig. Teagan Brideweser had three aces, 11 kills and four blocks. Dover falls to 6-10.

No. 3 Burke Catholic 3, No. 2 Rhinebeck 0: Visiting Burke Catholic prevailed to a three-set victory (25-17, 25-11, 25-15).

No. 4 S.S. Seward 3, No. 5 Pine Plains 2: Abigail Orlando tallied six aces, 12 kills, 28 assists, 11 digs and 18 total points earned to lead host S.S. Seward to a five-set victory (22-25, 24-26, 25-23, 25-14, 15-9) after trailing 0-2. Kailey Stolowski added three aces, 12 kills, one block, 26 assists, six digs and 16 total points earned. Ava Kirschke contributed five aces, 13 kills, six digs and 18 total points earned. Yeliza Valera had three aces, 10 kills, one assist, 12 digs and 13 total points earned. For Pine Plains, Chloe Baden tallied two kills, one assist, two digs and two total points earned. Lily Tagg added two aces, one kill, one assist, three digs and three total points earned. Bella Waltz contributed two aces, one kill, two digs and three total point earned.

No. 1 Mount Academy 3, No. 4 S.S. Seward 0: Jacqui Maendel tallied five aces, 28 assists and nine digs to lead host Mount Academy (16-0) to a three-set victory (25-10, 25-1, 25-19). Ruby Moody added three aces, 15 kills, seven digs and four blocks. Amy Boller contributed eight kills and eight digs. Jenna Maendel had four kills, three assists and two digs. For S.S. Seward (10-10), Ava Kirschke tallied one ace, three kills and four digs. Abigail Orlando added two aces, two kills, one block, four assists and five digs. Kailey Stolowski contributed two blocks, four assists and two digs.

No. 3 Millbrook 3, No. 2 Tuxedo 0: Julia Stoliker tallied 17 kills and seven digs to lead visiting Millbrook (12-2) to a three-set victory (25-16, 25-16, 25-15). Natalie Fox added two aces, nine kills and six digs. Marisa Markou contributed four aces, 28 assists and five digs. Gianna Dipilato had five aces. For Tuxedo (10-8), Juliana Scanlon tallied nine kills, nine digs and one block. Vanessa Duarte added seven service points, two aces, 10 assists and two digs. Anastasia Vishnevskaya contributed one kill, two assists and 11 digs. Dayanara Vasquez had two service points, two aces, one kill and nine digs.
