Vols in the NBA: Oct. 24 recap

The 2021-22 NBA season is now in high gear and three former University of Tennessee basketball players were in action Sunday night.

Another one-time Volunteer was inactive and another did not play due to a coach’s decision.

In Oklahoma City, Philadelphia notched a 115-103 victory over the Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Center.

Tobias Harris started at forward for the 76ers and played 33 minutes.

He scored 14 points while going 7-for-14 from the floor. He was 0-for-4 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Harris recorded nine rebounds and five assists.

Jaden Springer, a rookie and first-round draft pick, did not play for the 76ers due to a coach’s decision.

Meanwhile in Houston, the Celtics defeated the Rockets, 107-97, at the Toyota Center. Two former Vols made contributions for Boston off the bench.

Grant Williams totaled 18 points, three rebounds and two assists against Houston. He logged 31 minutes on the court and went 6-for-8 from the floor and was 5-for-7 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Josh Richardson had seven points, two rebounds, two assists and one block against Houston.

He was 3-for-8 from the field and 1-for-5 from beyond the 3-point arc.

In Los Angeles, Yves Pons was inactive for Memphis in its 121-118 loss against the Lakers at Staples Center.
