Granville is a community rich in history, and volunteers are requested for an upcoming event to preserve that history.

Volunteers are needed to clean headstones in the Old Colony on Saturday, June 10. Supplies will be provided, and no prior experience is needed, but participants must attend a 15-minute training session at 9 a.m. Volunteers may also want to bring their own work gloves.

Removing lichens, algae, and soil helps preserve a historic headstone, and it makes the stone more legible and beautiful. Volunteers can pick a headstone from among those marked for cleaning. Plan to stay for an hour or two, or all morning — any amount of time you spend will be helpful and will be greatly appreciated.

Those interested are asked to email Lyn Boone (boonel@denison.edu) with questions and to register to participate.
