Volunteers needed for Turkey Trot and more news in Oshkosh's weekly dose

OSHKOSH — The Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh is looking for volunteers to help with the Festival Foods Turkey Trot. Help is needed with Nov. 22 and 23 with registration, bib pick-up, course monitors and more.

Volunteers will be at the Oshkosh Senior’s Center-North Building, 234 N. Campbell Road.

Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh and Oshkosh YMCA.

Trot participants can do a timed 5-mile run, untimed 2-mile fun run, or an untimed 2-mile walk. It is open to all ages and abilities. There’s even a 2-mile Dog Jog.

Glow In The Park offers Halloween-themed mini golf

Now through Oct. 31, Glow In The Park Indoor Mini Golf is hosting its first Not So Spooky Halloween Edition.

Players can make their way through the Halloween-decorated course to themed music. This event was not created to be scary, but because of the nature of the holiday, it may not be suitable for young children. Parental discretion is advised.

There are no additional fees. The regular rate is $11 per player plus tax, with children 4 and younger admitted free.

Glow in the Park, 300 S. Koeller St., Suite B, is an 18-hole indoor, black light mini golf course. Tee times can be booked online at glowintheparkoshkosh.com.

United Day friendly competition raised funds for OAUW

Oshkosh-based Amcor and Oshkosh Corporation co-hosted the first-ever United Day event, a local day of friendly competition. Proceeds benefit the Oshkosh Area United Way.

Held Oct. 11, employees from both companies championed a day of camaraderie and friendly competition, striving to outdo each other. Activities included a cornhole tournament and music trivia. Music was provided by local DJ Marty Schibbelhut.

The Claudettes to play free show Oct. 27 in Oshkosh

The Claudettes, hailing from Chicago, will return to the Reptile Palace in Oshkosh for a 10 p.m. show Oct 27. Admission is free.

The group was formed by pianist/songwriter Johnny Iguana with drummer Michael Caskey. Since releasing their first album in 2013, the band has undergone several changes including moving to a new label. They have released a total of six albums, most recently 2022’s "The Claudettes Go Out!"

Howl-o-ween Pawty to boost Oshkosh Humane Society

The Oshkosh Area Humane Society will host a family-friendly Howl-o-ween Pawty from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 28 at the shelter facility, 1925 Shelter Court, Oshkosh.

Staff and volunteers will host activities and give out candy while in costume. You can also see the cute animals at the shelter. Costumes are encouraged.

Admission is free. Attendees are asked to take a donation item from the most-needed items list to get a free spin on the prize wheel. The list can be found on the shelter’s website at oahs.org.

Holiday for the Horses fundraiser to benefit Beaming Inc.

Beaming Inc. will host its Holiday for the Horses fundraiser from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 2 at Best Western Premier Bridgewood Resort Hotel, 1000 Cameron Way, Neenah.

The gala event will be hosted by co-emcees Stacy Engebretson of WBAY and Jim Webb, owner of Krueger’s True Value Hardware in Neenah.

Guests will enjoy dinner, music, raffle baskets, silent and live auctions, giveaways and can have a photo with Sparkles, BEAMING’s mini horse mascot.

Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased at givebutter.com/holidayforthehorses2023 or supporters can mail in checks to BEAMING at 2692 County Road GG, Neenah, WI 54956 and their names will be added to the guest list at the event registration table.

Musical group Delilah DeWylde will play at 9:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Cranky Pat’s, 905 S. Commercial St., Neenah.

The band has recorded three albums, "Honky Tonk Heart" (2008), "The Price You Pay" (2010) and "Win My Love" (2012), and plays more than 120 shows each year.
