Volusia, Flagler schools report 806 COVID-19 positive students, staff this week

Volusia and Flagler county schools reported 806 students and staff members tested positive for COVID-19 from Jan. 20 to 26.

That's a decrease from the 1,364 new cases reported in both districts last week and mirrors the drop in COVID-19 cases statewide.

Volusia County Schools reported 462 students and 145 staff members with the virus during the past week, according to the district's COVID-19 dashboard, which was updated Wednesday evening.

A total of 1,754 students and 639 staff members have contracted the virus so far in 2022.

Since the beginning of the school year, 3,755 students and 1,134 staff members in Volusia County schools have tested positive, according to the district's COVID-19 dashboard, which is updated twice weekly.

In Flagler County, 180 students and 19 staff members tested positive for COVID-19 from Jan. 20 to 26, according to the district.

A total of 463 students and 42 staff members have contracted the virus so far in 2022.

Since the start of the school year, the district has reported 1,627 student cases and 192 employee cases, according to the district's COVID-19 dashboard.

Combined, that's 6,708 cases for both districts so far for the 2021-22 school year. Flagler County has 13,300 students and Volusia County has 63,300 students.
