Volyn's Territorial Defence show how it will destroy invaders that risk going on the offensive

Soldiers of the Volyn brigade of the Territorial Defence Forces have demonstrated their combat skills in the event of an offensive by Belarus troops from the northern border with Belarus.

Details: During the exercise, Territorial Defence soldiers were trained to relocate as a unit to a deployment area, identify enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups, and engage in contact combat using various types of small arms and armoured vehicles.

The servicemen also simulated a planned retreat from forward positions and the evacuation of wounded soldiers.

Background: 

  • The regime of the self-proclaimed president Lukashenko in Belarus has been threatening provocations on the Ukrainian border and war in recent weeks. The Belarusian army is conducting "spot checks" of the combat capability of troops throughout Belarus, deploying troops near the borders of Ukraine and EU member states.

  • On 26 May, Lukashenko instructed his military personnel to create a new operational command on the southern borders of Belarus to lead the management of troops in possible battles on the territory of Ukraine. In addition, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus has plans to create a people's militia.

  • On 22 May, the Security Council of Belarus announced the alleged detection of Ukrainian saboteurs.
