Voodoo Doughnut opening second Austin location

You won't have to navigate Dirty Sixth to grab an over-the-top donut from Portland import Voodoo Doughnut soon.

The Oregon chain, which has a sizable presence in Texas, is planning to open a second Austin location at 5408 Burnet Road in the former Lucy's Fried Chicken space. The location is listed as "Coming Soon" on the Voodoo Doughnut website, and Eater Austin, which first reported the news, writes that the location will be open by the end of the year. Voodoo first came to Austin in 2015 with its loud spot on Sixth Street. The Voodoo site also says it has a location coming soon to San Antonio.

James Holmes closed the Lucy's on Burnet Road in March after struggling to staff adequately. Holmes, who opened his original location off South Congress Avenue in 2011, closed the Lakeway location at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.  The original location and the Cedar Park outpost are still in business.
