The fifth-annual vote will allow readers to fight it out as we recognize some of the best players in the region from this past season. Previous winners include the likes of Joplin's Isaiah Davis and West Plains' Connor Lair.

A new winner will be crowned this year in a contest that has typically received tens of thousands of votes. You will be allowed to vote as often as you please before Wednesday at 10 a.m.

The News-Leader announced on Sunday that it selected Nixa's Ramone Green as its player of the year. It will have no impact on the fan-voted honor. Unlike the News-Leader's selected honor, the fan vote will consider players from the Joplin area.
