Matthew Auble

Warsaw senior became a state indoor track champion in the weight throw and shot put, returning from Staten Island with four first-place medals, including two Federation golds. He also set the Section V weight throw record to 71 feet-7 1/4 inches.

Camryn Cole

Webster Schroeder senior won four first-place medals at the indoor track state championships on Staten Island. She won the New York State Public High School Athletic Association high jump and long jump competitions, plus the Federation or all-comers version of those events.

Mya Herman

The Canandaigua senior scored 50 points this week — 25 in a semifinal win and 25 in the Class A championship win over Pittsford Sutherland to lead the Braves to their first girls basketball championship since 2009.

Jazzmyn Lewis

The Waterloo senior scored 16 points in a Class B1 semifinal win over Midlakes, then scored 17 in the championship win over Palmyra-Macedon. But her value as a defensive sparkplug can’t be overlooked for the Tigers, who won their third straight Section V title.

Cam Stetzer

Pittsford's state champion swimmer had a decorated weekend at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Boys Swimming and Diving Championship at Ithaca College. Stetzer won a state title as a part of the 200-yard medley relay that touched in 1:34.35. He also swam a leg on the NYS runner-up 400-yard freestyle relay that set a new Section V record at 3:06.99. In addition, Stetzer placed fourth in the 200-yard individual medley (1:52.33).

Quinn VanKerkhove

A lights out shooting performance by Irondequoit's junior guard helped the Eagles beat Greece Athena to capture the Class A1 title Saturday at Blue Cross Arena. Vankerhove, who came into the game averaging 8.5 points a game, scored 23 points and made five 3-pointers, battling back from an illness that kept him out of practice the day before.
