Here are this week’s nominees for The Charlotte Observer boys high school athlete of the week.

This week’s Nominees

Drew Beard, Charlotte Christian Baseball: The Knights’ junior went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored in an 11-1 win over SouthLake Christian April 24.

Beard was 0-for-2 in a 6-5 loss at Providence Day April 25.

Beard finished off the week going 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored in a 12-2 victory over Providence Day April 26.

Beard is batting .349 with eight doubles, 18 RBI and 16 runs scored for Charlotte Christian (17-10).

Noah Cottone, Central Cabarrus Baseball: The Vikings’ senior went 2-for-4 at the plate with a RBI, while also earning the win on the mound with nine strikeouts in an 8-1 win at Concord April 24.

The next night, Cottone was 2-for-4 with three RBI in an 8-3 victory over Concord.

Cottone finished off the week going 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored in a 13-12 win at South Stanly April 26.

Carter Cox, Porter Ridge Lacrosse: The Pirates’ senior attacker had six goals and 11 groundballs in a 17-5 win at Parkwood April 25.

Cox has 41 goals, 11 assists and 41 groundballs for Porter Ridge (6-10).

Jack Dalton, Lake Norman Charter Lacrosse: The Knights’ junior attacker had six goals and two groundballs in a 14-7 win over Myers Park April 24.

Dalton has 52 goals, 76 assists and 20 groundballs for Lake Norman Charter (13-5).

Killian Fahy, Cuthbertson Track: The Cavaliers’ senior celebrated his senior night in style winning the 100-meter dash (11.44) and the 400-meter dash (50.55) on his home track April 26.

Fahy is a University of North Carolina commit.

Chase Kiker, Metrolina Christian Baseball: The Warriors’ freshman threw a complete-game, shutout giving up just two hits, while striking out 10 batters in a 2-0 win at Cannon School April 24.

Metrolina Christian also beat the Carolina Royals 8-1 April 25.

Kiker is 9-2 on the mound this season with a 1.42 earned-run average (ERA) for a Metrolina Christian team (20-3) that has won 10 straight games through Sunday.

Aidan Lee, Community School of Davidson Lacrosse: The Spartans’ junior scored four goals, had one assist and nine groundballs in an 11-7 win at Christ the King April 27.

Lee also had one goal and two groundballs in a 6-5 win over Providence April 25.

Lee had a goal, an assist and a groundball in a 16-2 victory at Mountain Island Charter April 24.

Lee has 30 goals, 20 assists and 53 groundballs for Community School of Davidson (12-4).

Jack Sheridan, Marvin Ridge Lacrosse: The Mavericks’ junior goalkeeper had eight saves in an 18-8 win at Ardrey Kell April 24.

Sheridan also had 12 saves in a 18-5 victory at Weddington to clinch the Southern Carolina/Rocky River conference title, April 27.

Sheridan has 149 saves for Marvin Ridge (15-4).

Eli Schmidly, Myers Park Golf: The Mustangs’ senior shot a 2-under-par 70 to win the SoMeck 4A conference title (individual) with three birdies in his round at Palisades Country Club April 25.

Schmidly, a Charlotte 49ers’ commit, earned SoMeck 4A conference player of the year honors for his efforts while helping the Myers Park boys’ golf team to a league title the same day.

Will Thompson, Providence Day Lacrosse: The Chargers’ senior scored four goals in a 16-5 win over Charlotte Latin April 25.

Thompson followed that up with five goals and four assists in a 15-7 victory at Charlotte Country Day April 27.

Thompson also had three goals and three assists in a 14-4 victory over Ravenscroft April 29.

Thompson, an Ohio Wesleyan University commit, has 53 goals and 23 assists for Providence Day (14-5).

Brevin Wilson, Cannon School Lacrosse: The Cougars’ junior attacker scored six goals and had two assists in a 17-6 win over Lake Norman April 27.

Cannon School (15-3) also won 11-3 at Charlotte Christian April 25.

Wilson is a University of North Carolina commit.

Jordan Young, Monroe Track: The Redhawks’ sophomore won the long jump (19-9) and the triple jump (40-3.50) at Marvin Ridge April 25.

Young also finished third in the high jump (5-6) at the same meet.
