Below are the nominees for The Charlotte Observer girls’ high school athlete of the week.

This week’s nominees

Tatiana Blake, Cuthbertson indoor track: The Cavaliers’ junior won the 300-meter dash (41.74) and finished fifth in the 55-meter hurdles in a personal-best 8.95 at the Weddington Invitational at the JDL Fast Track on Jan. 5.

Blake also helped both the 800- and 1,600-,eter relay teams to victory at the meet.

Ella Chepul, Marvin Ridge basketball: The 5-foot-11 senior scored 26 points in a 61-55 win at Porter Ridge on Jan. 5.

Chepul also scored six points in a 70-39 victory at Nation Ford on Jan. 2.

Chepul is averaging 15 points and eight rebounds per game for Marvin Ridge (12-3).

Makailah Davis, South Mecklenburg basketball: The 5-7 junior scored 32 points to go with 13 steals and five rebounds in a win over Hopewell on Jan. 4.

Davis is averaging 19 points per game for South Mecklenburg (8-6).

Kayda Geyer, Union Academy swimming: The Cardinals’ sophomore won the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly in a five-team meet with Central Academy, Parkwood, Porter Ridge and Weddington on Jan. 4.

Geyer also helped the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay to runner-up finishes at the same meet.

Camri Hobbs, Jay M. Robinson basketball: The 6-3 sophomore scored 34 points to go with six rebounds and seven steals to lead the Bulldogs to a 70-24 win at Lake Norman Charter on Jan. 5.

Hobbs is averaging 18.3 points per game for Jay M. Robinson (9-2).

Aubrey Hull, Ardrey Kell swimming: The Knights’ senior won the 50 freestyle in 24.51 at the Queen City Relays at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center on Jan. 6.

Hull, a Vanderbilt commit who also led two Knights’ relays to victory at the same meet, was the fastest of 173 girls in her 50 freestyle win.

Kamryn Kitchen, Independence basketball: The 5-9 junior scored 21 points, had six rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 67-54 victory over Providence on Jan. 5.

Kitchen is averaging 17 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals per game for Independence (11-4).

Laura Lassiter, Myers Park basketball: The 5-6 senior matched a season-high with 15 points in a 64-45 win over Ardrey Kell on Jan. 5.

Lassiter also scored nine points, had five rebounds, three assists and one steal in a 47-29 victory at Hough.

Lassiter is averaging seven points per game for a Myers Park team that is still perfect at 13-0.

Amya Leathers, Hickory Ridge basketball: The 5-6 junior scored 22 points, had five steals and four assists in a 76-34 victory at A.L. Brown on Jan. 3.

Leathers also scored 13 points and dished out three assists in a 54-17 win over Mooresville on Jan. 5.

Leathers is averaging 12.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game for Hickory Ridge (12-2).

Natalie Nebrich, Concord basketball: The 5-11 junior had 15 rebounds, 10 blocks and two points to help Concord to a 64-50 win over South Rowan on Jan. 5.

Nebrich is averaging four points, 10 rebounds and 4.4 blocks per game for Concord (5-7).

Brooklyn Saunders, Butler basketball: The 5-3 junior scored 20 points, including the 1,000th of her career, as well as 10 steals and six assists in a 58-24 victory over Indian Land on Jan. 3.

Saunders followed that up with 34 points, six steals, five assists and four rebounds in a 64-33 win over Rocky River on Jan. 5.

Butler is 9-3 overall.

Sophia Zoerb, Hough basketball: The 5-10 junior scored 19 points, including five three-pointers, had four steals and three assists in a 70-28 win over West Charlotte on Jan. 5.

Zoerb also scored eight points in a 47-29 loss at Myers Park on Jan. 3.

Zoerb is averaging 10 points per game for Hough (9-5).
