Vote: Make your choice for Local Player of the Week for Nov. 22-27

Here are the top performers from the Abilene high schools vying to be the Reporter-News Local Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 27.

We continue to give you a vote in the Player of the Week selection process. The poll opens every Monday at 2 p.m. and stays open through Wednesday at 2 p.m. The winner will be announced Wednesday night and in Thursday's paper.

This year, the public vote will account for part of the selection process.

The five nominees for the Week of Nov. 22-27 are:

Avery Brekke, Wylie, Boys Basketball

Brekke led the Bulldogs offensively in both games. He scored 22 points in the 74-63 win against Midland High, making nine shots from the floor and was 4 of 6 from the free throw line. He also led with 15 points in the loss to Class 6A Wolfforth Frenship.

Kaylan Adams, Wylie, Girls Basketball

Adams finished with a team-high 20 points for the Lady Bulldogs as they held off North Crowley for a 68-65 victory.

Ariana Trevino, Abilene High, Girls Basketball

Trevino exploded for 19 points as the Lady Eagles beat Sweetwater 59-26. She hit four 3-pointers in the victory.

Hayden Williams, Abilene High, Boys Basketball

Williams scored a team-high 19 points, including five 3-pointers, in the Eagles setback to Grapevine.

Kyla Speights, Cooper, Girls Basketball

Speights gave the Lady Cougars a chance to knock off Granbury. She scored a team-high 18 points in the 52-49 loss.
