Why are you supporting Marianne Williamson in the NH primary?

The spiritual aspect of her work resonates with me. I have been reading her books for years.

What do you feel are the three most important issues in this election and how does Williamson address these.

Her economic policy is more detailed than any other candidate, her understanding of history is greater than any other candidate. All her policies are detailed on her website. She’s strong on the parity of mental illness and medical illness.

Her social programs from ending poverty to addressing mental health resonate with me. She believes addiction is a medical issue, not a mental issue. I believe in her.

She’s informed, sensitive, and it’s time for a woman to be president because men have driven us into a ditch. As Marianne says, why would we give the keys back to the people who ran us into a ditch?

What first drew you to learn more about Williamson? Have you met her in person?

Originally I was supporting Andrew Yang’s Forward Party, but then they decided not to run a presidential candidate. I met Marianne at the reading of Frederick Douglass’ speech: “What to the Slaves is the Fourth of July?” at Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth on July 5. We were both readers. She invited me to lunch afterward and offered me a job. I felt like I had met Elvis after 20 years of reading her books.

Are you volunteering for her campaign? What activities have you done, when and where?

I worked for her campaign for four months. Now I am supporting her as a volunteer, organizing and promoting events like the rally this Saturday, Jan. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. at South Church on State Street in Portsmouth. It’s a 500 to 600-seat venue. We hope to fill it, but even if we don’t, it still will be the largest Democratic Party rally in the state this primary. It’s open to the public - you can RSVP at marianne24.com or just show up.

Why do you feel the NH primary is important?

The NH Primary is important this year because we as Democrats have vilified the Republicans for being sleazy and corrupt, but then the candidate running on saving the soul of America, saving democracy, got involved in rigging the primaries. … As you know, it’s a state law that we have to set the primary to be the first. The Democratic National Committee put pressure on us to no longer be first. We waited for South Carolina to set theirs, and we set ours before that primary. The DNC was pissed off and said New Hampshire will have no delegates at the convention. America needs to know we can’t be throwing stones at the GOP when we (the Democrats) are doing the same thing.
