Vote for the Deer Park High School Offensive Player of the week

Here are the nominees for the first Deer Park Water high school football offensive player of the week in The Charlotte Observer’s coverage area.

Eligible players can come from Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln and Union Counties in North Carolina as well as York and Lancaster Counties in South Carolina.

Players were nominated by their coaches.

Readers can vote as often as they want until Friday when the winner will be announced. Deer Park will also present the weekly winners with a trophy.

This week’s offensive nominees



Brandon Albert, Community School of Davidson: in a 40-7 win over the Hickory Hawks, Albert, a junior, caught 15 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns. He ran for a 19-yard score.

Patrick Blee, South Point: in a 35-21 win over Lincolnton, the sophomore QB ran 18 times for 227 yards and three touchdowns.

Owen Farrell, Charlotte Christian: In a 40-37 come-from-behind win over Myers Park at Memorial Stadium, Farrell returned a punt 72 yards for a score and a kickoff 88 yards for a score in about three minutes of game time.

CJ Ferguson, West Iredell: in a 50-0 win over Thoomas Jefferson, Ferguson ran six times for 118 yards and two scores. He caught three passes for 90 yards and a score. He did that in the first two quarters. He didn’t play in the second half.

Matt Gaskins, Metrolina Christian: in a 35-0 win over North Raleigh Christian, Gaskins had 13 carries for 146 yards, with two rushing touchdowns.

Grayson Harvey, Mountain Island Charter: in a 40-0 win over the Cabarrus Stallions, Harvey completed 11-of-15 passes for 381 yards and three touchdowns.

Brady Hibbard, Forest Hills: senior QB completed 18-of-23 passes for 231 yards and five touchdowns, with no interceptions, in a 55-12 win over Ashbrook. He also ran six times for 32 yards and a score.

Evan Medders, Marvin Ridge: senior quarterback threw for 96 yards and two touchdowns and ran 25 times for 245 yards and three more scores in a 42-27 win over Pfafftown Reagan.

Dominic Morin, Mooresville: caught four passes for 154 yards and a score in a 31-24 win over Davie County.

Trenton Sherrill, East Gaston: senior QB was 11-of-17 for 202 yards and three touchdowns in a 29-14 win over North Gaston. He also ran six times for 68 yards.

Jordan Shipp, Providence Day: 13 catches, 234 yards, three touchdowns in a 42-35 win over Rock Hill Northwestern in the first-ever high school football game at Bank of America Stadium.

KD Smith, West Charlotte: sophomore quarterback completed 12-of-16 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-19 win over Palisades. He also ran seven times for 47 yards and a score.

Brady Turriff, Sun Valley: in a 49-14 win over Central Cabarrus, Turniff completed 12-of-18 passes for 153 yards and three touchdowns.

Na’Ledge Wright, JM Robinson: ran 38 times for 304 yards and scored a Cabarrus County record seven touchdowns in a 48-41 upset win over Hickory Ridge. Wright also had ran for two 2-point conversions.
