Mercyhurst Prep's Tranum, McDowell's Blue voted Erie County Athletes of Week
The Erie County Athletes of the Week are Mercyhurst Prep basketball player Anna Tranum and McDowell wrestler Bobby Blue.
More than 2,600 votes were cast in the girls' poll, while almost 2,000 votes were compiled in the boys' poll.
Here's a look at this week's winners:
ERIE COUNTY FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Anna Tranum, Mercyhurst Prep basketball: She made four 3-pointers on her way to a game-high, 18-point performance for the Lakers when they defeated North East 53-32.
The 5-foot 10-inch senior forward averaged 11.5 points per game while leading the Lakers to a 6-4 start.
She received 687 votes, which represented 26.36 percent of the 2,606 votes.

ERIE COUNTY MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Bobby Blue, McDowell wrestling: He recorded a 17-2 technical fall in his 138-pound match when the Trojans beat Erie High 35-9.
Blue also recorded three consecutive consolation wins before finishing sixth in the Boardman (Ohio) Spartan tournament over the weekend. He had a 10-6 record after getting a win against Cathedral Prep on Wednesday.
Blue received 394 of the 1,974 votes, which is 19.96 percent of the vote.

Athlete of the Week polls
Each week during the winter, Erie Times-News staff members will select nominees for the Female Athlete of the Week and the Male Athlete of the Week.
The two polls will be posted on GoErie.com/sports each Monday at 5 p.m., and voting will continue through Wednesday at 5 p.m.
