Seneca, Fort LeBoeuf, Cathedral Prep stars win GoErie Athlete of Week fan polling

Athletes from two Erie County schools and Cathedral Prep were the top vote-getters in this week's GoErie.com Erie County Athlete of the Week polls.

Fort LeBoeuf volleyball player Kayleigh Anderson, Seneca football player Ryan Miller and Cathedral Prep golfer Breckin Taylor were the winners in online voting that went on Monday from 5 p.m. through Wednesday at 5 p.m. More than 6,700 total votes were cast.

Female Athlete of the Week

Kayleigh Anderson, Fort LeBoeuf: Her big week included leading the charge in the Bison's five-set win over General McLane with 18 kills, five aces and four blocks. She also made 12 kills in Fort LeBoeuf's 25-17, 25-14, 25-11 win against Fairview.

Anderson received 300 (14.64%) of the 2,049 votes cast. She was followed by Erie High soccer player Eden Palkovic, who received 255 votes (12.455).

Football Player of the Week

Ryan Miller, Seneca: All the senior running back did on Sept. 23 was break two school records with 392 rushing yards and six touchdowns in a 46-35 win over Titusville.

Miller received 636 (22.96%) of the 2,770 votes cast. He was followed by Fort LeBoeuf kicker Isaac McGuire, who received 393 votes (14.19%).

Male Athlete of the Week

Breckin Taylor, Cathedral Prep: The junior was the top golfer at the two-day Midwest Prep Classic, leading an 80-player field with a score of 71-73-144.

Taylor received 422 (21.89%) of the 1,928 votes cast. He was followed by Fort LeBoeuf cross country runner Ben Schrumpf, who received 376 votes (19.5%).
