It's time to vote for the Gastonia and Shelby area Week 6 high school football and fall sports Athletes of the Week.

You can learn about this week's candidates and submit your votes below. Only votes submitted via the poll below will be counted. The poll is open through midnight Thursday.

Our weekly top performers list and athlete of the week nominees are compiled from information provided to The Gaston Gazette and Shelby Star by coaches, athletic directors or team statisticians through emails, MaxPreps or mentioning @JoeLHughesII in game results and highlights posted to Twitter.

Offensive Player of the Week

Mason Avery, West Lincoln: Finished with 196 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries in a 27-17 loss to Maiden.

Carmelo Bess, Ashbrook: Caught three passes for 131 yards and a touchdown, along with 48 rushing yards and another TD in a 24-21 loss to Forestview.

Izay Bridges, Shelby: Caught four passes for 80 yards and three touchdowns, along with running for a 64-yard touchdown in the Golden Lions’ 55-6 win over Thomas Jefferson.

Aiden Carson, Crest: Finished with 188 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries in a 54-28 win over Stuart Cramer.

Christopher Daley II, East Lincoln: Rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries in a 28-7 win over Statesville.

Jvontre Duff, Bessemer City: Caught three passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns in a 60-14 win over Highland Tech.

Khamoni Heath, Lincolnton: Rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries, along with a 70-yard reception in his team’s 22-21 win over Newton-Conover.

Cam Medlock, South Point: Rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries in a 35-7 win over Hunter Huss.

Defensive Player of the Week

Ryan Bassani, North Lincoln: Finished with 18 tackles (four for a loss) in a 29-22 loss to Hickory.

Noah Comer, Forestview: Led his team with 10 tackles (one for a loss) in a 24-21 win over Ashbrook.

Deshaun Corry, Crest: Had an interception and a sack in his team’s 54-28 win over Stuart Cramer.

T.J. Griffin, Shelby: Had 12 tackles (two for a loss) and a sack in the Golden Lions’ 55-6 win over Thomas Jefferson.

Elijah Haynes, Ashbrook: Finished with 14 tackles, a sack and a fumble returned for a touchdown in a 24-21 loss to Forestview.

Jack Milford, South Point: Had 11 tackles (four for a loss) and two sacks in a 35-7 win over Hunter Huss.

Diego Neira, East Lincoln: Had eight tackles, two sacks and a blocked punt returned for a touchdown in his team’s 28-7 win over Statesville.

Kameron Rice-Collins, Bessemer City: Had five tackles, a sack, a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown and a 75-yard kickoff return for a TD in a 60-14 win over Highland Tech.

Jayce Rowe, East Gaston: Blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown, four tackles and an interception for the Warriors in a 38-0 win over Cherryville.

Boys Athlete of the Week

Damon Cook, Shelby cross country: Placed first in the boys Shelby Invitational race with a time of 18:14.40.

Drew Crotts, Stuart Cramer soccer: Finished with three goals and two assists last week in wins over Crest and Hunter Huss.

Ben Spencer, Gaston Day soccer: Earned a hat trick in a 5-0 win over Gaston Christian.

Ethan Walker, Lincoln Charter soccer: Had two goals in a win over Langtree Charter. He followed with a goal in his team’s 3-1 loss to Christ the King.

Plamedi Warsinsky, Forestview soccer: Scored two goals in his team’s 8-0 win over Kings Mountain.

Girls Athlete of the Week

Caroline Curtis, Shelby tennis: Won 6-0, 6-0 in No 2 singles against East Gaston. Along with teammate Anna Schweppe, she added an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles. She followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Thomas Jefferson, along with an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles.

Madison Darnell, Highland Tech tennis: Won in No. 1 singles vs. Burns (6-0, 6-1). She followed with a 6-1, 6-0 in No. 1 singles vs. East Gaston, and an 8-1 win in No. 1 singles with teammate Katelin Vaher.

Rennie Liu, Forestview tennis: Won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles vs. North Gaston. She was also victorious in No. 1 doubles with teammate Sarah Younan (8-3). She followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 1 singles vs. Ashbrook.

Camden Pasour, Kings Mountain volleyball: Led her team with 22 assists in a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-9, 25-10) over South Point. She followed with 20 assists, four digs and one kill in a 3-0 win over Crest.

Madison Pruden, South Point golf: Was the event medalist after shootinga 42 at Kings Mountain Country Club.
