Rock Hill Herald Fall Sports’ Athletes of the Week

Blakely Allison, York Prep Cross Country: The Patriots’ freshman ran a 21:47.50 to win the 5K at York, Oct. 19. Allison also ran a 21:45.50 to finish 22nd in the Bob Jenkins’ York County Cross Country at Northwestern High, Oct. 21.

Allison won for the second time in as many weeks after winning the 5K at Central Pageland, Oct. 10.

Lilliana Ayer, Northwestern Swimming: The Trojans’ senior swam a school-record 2:02.89 to finish 11th at S.C. 4A state championships at the University of South Carolina, Oct. 16.

Ayer was also a part of the 400 freestyle relay that finish seventh at the state championships.

Garrett Brown, South Pointe Cross Country: The Stallions’ senior ran a 15:51.40 to win the Bob Jenkins’ York County Cross Country title by 17 seconds at Northwestern High, Oct. 21.

Brown’s efforts also helped the South Pointe cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the same event.

Leilani Brown, Clover Volleyball: The Blue Eagles’ junior middle hitter had 11 kills, two blocks, one ace and one assist in a 3-1, first round, 5A state playoff win over J.L. Mann, Oct. 18.

Brown also had nine kills and two blocks in a 3-1 win over Spring Valley, Oct. 16.

Brown has 200 kills, 53 blocks, 28 aces and 16 assists for Clover (19-15-1) this season.

Isabella Cardoza, Catawba Ridge Cross Country: The Copperheads’ senior ran a team-best 20:38.30 to finish 10th overall at the Bob Jenkins’ York County Championships at Northwestern High, Oct. 21.

Cardoza’s run also helped her lead the Catawba Ridge girls’ cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the same meet.

Alivia Cleveland, Fort Mill Cross Country: The Yellow Jackets’ sophomore ran an 18:37.70 to win the Bob Jenkins’ York County Cross Country title by nearly 35 seconds at Northwestern High, Oct. 21.

Cleveland’s win also helped the Fort Mill girls’ cross country team to a 35-point victory at the same meet.

Teryn Dalton, Westminster Catawba Golf: The Indians’ senior shot a three-over par, 39, to win the Metrolina Athletic Conference (MAC) tournament at the Divide Golf Club, Oct. 16.

Dalton’s play also helped the Westminster Catawba girls’ golf team to a MAC tournament title, after winning the league’s regular season crown.

Isaak Stephenson, Legion Collegiate Soccer: The Lancers’ sophomore goalkeeper earned a shutout in a 3-0 win over previously unbeaten, Thomas Jefferson Academy, Oct. 13.

Stephenson also earned his fourth shutout of the season in a 2-0 victory over Grace Academy, Oct. 17.

Legion Collegiate is 5-5-1 overall this season.

Nora Stevenson, Rock Hill Volleyball: The Bearcats’ senior libero had 32 digs, 22 service receptions, four assists and one ace as Rock Hill beat T.L. Hanna, 3-1, in the first round of the 5A state playoffs, Oct. 18.

Stevenson has 476 digs, 390 service receptions, 55 assists and 34 aces for Rock Hill (24-6-1) this season.

Caden Wolf, Fort Mill Swimming: The Yellow Jackets’ senior accounted for 65 points to help the Fort Mill boys’ swimming to a 5A state championship at University of South Carolina, Oct. 16.

Wolf finished 8th in the 200 individual medley, 12th in the 100 breaststroke and fourth in the 200 freestyle relay at the state championships.
