Rock Hill Herald Fall Sports’ Athletes of the Week

Isaac Campbell, Fort Mill Cross Country: The Yellow Jackets’ junior ran a 16:35 to win individually at home in meet with Blythewood, Clover and Nation Ford, Sept. 20.

Campbell’s run also helped the Fort Mill cross country team to victory at the same meet.

Caroline Cate, Indian Land Volleyball: The Warriors’ had 30 kills, 11 digs and three blocks as Indian Land went 3-3 overall this week.

Indian Land (5-13) beat Lancaster, 3-0, Sept. 19, and lost 3-0 at York, Sept. 21, in region play.

The Warriors also beat Keenan and Northwestern, 2-0, while lost to Fort Mill, 2-0, and Ridge View, 2-1, in their own tournament (Warrior Classic), Sept. 23.

Cate has 90 kills, 48 digs and seven blocks for Indian Land this season.

Hannah Glynn, Catawba Ridge Volleyball: The Copperheads’ junior outside hitter had 24 kills, 32 digs, one ace and one block in two matches combined as Catawba Ridge won 3-1 over Northwestern, Sept. 19, and 3-0 at South Pointe, Sept. 21.

Glynn has 109 kills, 124 digs and 12 aces for Catawba Ridge (8-4) this season.

Addy Hall, Clover Volleyball: The Blue Eagles’ senior right-side hitter had 11 kills and five digs in a 3-0 win over Blythewood, Sept. 19.

Hall also had 21 kills, six digs and seven aces in a 3-2 victory over Fort Mill, Sept. 21.

Hall has 143 kills, 60 digs, 18 blocks and 14 aces for Clover (14-8) this season.

Alex McCaskill, Nation Ford Cross Country: The Falcons’ senior ran a 16:09.10 to finish 14th-place in the Boys’ Championship 5K at the Hare and Hounds’ Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, Sept. 23.

McCaskill’s time was just .10 off his personal best set in the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg, Sept. 2.

McCaskill also helped his Nation Ford cross country team to a third-place finish in the 35-team field in Charlotte.

Brittany Mobley-Meulman, Rock Hill Cross Country: The Bearcats’ freshman ran a 20:10.30 to win on her home course in a meet with Gaffney and Spring Valley, Sept. 20. The Rock Hill girls’ cross country team also won the same meet.

Mobley-Meulman also ran a 20:00.30 to finish fourth-place in the Girls’ 5K Invitational race at the Hare and Hounds’ Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, Sept. 23.

Nate Mosiman, Legion Collegiate Soccer: The Lancers’ junior defender had both goals in regulation as Legion Collegiate lost 4-2 on penalty kicks to Charlotte Latin, Sept. 22.

Legion Collegiate is 1-5 overall this season.

Keerthana Nair, Indian Land Tennis: The Warriors’ senior, co-captain won her No. 1 singles’ match, 6-0, 6-0, to lead Indian Land to a 6-0 win over Northwestern, Sept. 19.

Nair also won her No. 1 singles’ match 6-1, 6-0, in another 6-0, team win at South Pointe, Sept. 21.

Nair (5-0 in singles’ play this season) has lost only one game in singles’ play this season to lead her Indian Land team to a perfect 5-0 record.

Olivia Rogers, York Prep Volleyball: The Patriots’ senior had 13 kills, 25 digs, five blocks and four aces as York Prep won 3-1 at Central Pageland, Sept. 19, and 3-0 over Cheraw, Sept. 20.

York Prep is 6-7 overall this season.

Ellis Spencer, York Cross Country: The Cougars’ freshman ran a personal-best 18:09.90 to win a home meet by 49 seconds, Sept. 21.

Spencer’s efforts helped the York boys’ cross country team to a third-place finish in the seven-team field.
