Garrett Brown, South Pointe Cross Country: The Stallions’ senior ran a 15:42.46 to finish third-place in the Boys’ White Race at the Wendy’s Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, Oct. 7.

Brown’s run was nearly six seconds off his personal-best time that he ran at the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg, Sept. 2.

Brown’s efforts also helped the South Pointe cross country team to a 26th-place finish in the 38-team field.

Alivia Cleveland, Fort Mill Cross Country: The Yellow Jackets’ sophomore ran an 18:01.40 to finish 23rd-place overall in the Girls’ Race of Champions at the Great American Cross Country Festival at WakeMed Park in Cary, Oct. 7.

Cleveland’s run helped the Fort Mill girls’ cross country team to a 14th-place finish in the 40-team field in a meet that included over 1,100 runners from 16 different states.

Ayden Davis, York Football: The Cougars’ senior had 11 carries for 126 yards and three touchdowns in a 39-20 win over Catawba Ridge.

Davis also caught six passes for 49 yards and a touchdown as York is 2-0 in the region and 6-1 overall.

Rileigh Franklin, Clover Volleyball: The Blue Eagles’ senior outside hitter had 10 kills, four digs, and two blocks in a 3-0 win at Spring Valley, Oct. 3.

Franklin also had 17 kills, three digs and one block in a 3-1 victory at Blythewood, Oct. 5.

Franklin has 196 kills, 56 digs and 24 blocks for Clover (17-13-1) this season.

Lila Hadley, Fort Mill Swimming: The Yellow Jackets’ freshman won all four events she swam in at the Region III, 5A championships at Fort Mill Aquatic Center, Oct. 7.

Hadley won the 200 individual medley, the 100 breaststroke, and helped the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay teams to victory as the Fort Mill girls’ swim team also won the region title the same day.

Hadley has helped account for 537 points in eight meets this season as the Fort Mill girls’ swim team is a perfect 8-0 overall.

Chloe Nosal, Northwestern Swimming: The Trojans’ senior swam four personal best times to lead the Northwestern girls’ swim team to a runner-up finish (to host, Catawba Ridge) at Region III, 4A championships at Fort Mill Aquatic Center, Oct. 7.

Nosal swam a 2:18.62 to finish fourth in the 200 freestyle, and 6:14.37 to finish third in the 500 freestyle at the region meet.

Nosal also helped the 200 freestyle relay (1:59.68) to fifth-place finish, and teamed up to lead the 400 freestyle relay (4:36.91) to seventh-place finish at the same meet.

Jake Root, Catawba Ridge Swimming: The Copperheads’ senior accounted for four first place finish at the Region III, 4A championships at Fort Mill Aquatic Center, Oct. 7.

Root won the 200 individual medley (2:06.74), the 100 breaststroke (1:03.55), while also helping the 200 and 400 freestyle relays to region titles.

Mia Royall, Nation Ford Cross Country: The Falcons’ senior ran a 18:57.91 to finish 13th place in the Girls’ White Race at the Wendy’s Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, Oct. 7.

Royall’s run helped the Nation Ford girls’ cross country team to a 17th-place finish in the 36-team field.

Elizabeth Sandu, Rock Hill Swimming: The Bearcats’ junior swam four different personal best times to help Rock Hill to third-place finish at the Region III, 5A swimming championships at Fort Mill Aquatic Center, Oct. 7.

Sandu finished 12th-place in the 500 freestyle (5:51.35), 13th in the 100 backstroke (1:11.27), 10th-place in the 200 medley relay and 11th in 400 freestyle relay at the region meet.

Wade Ward, Clover Cross Country: The Blue Eagles’ sophomore ran an 18:14.80 to win individually on his home course, while leading the Clover boys’ cross country team to victory over Blythewood, Midlands’ STEM Institute and Riverwalk Academy, Oct. 4.

Ward also ran a personal-best time of 17:28.83 to finish 36th-place in the Boys’ Red Race at the Wendy’s Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, Oct. 7.

The Clover boys’ cross country team finished 19th overall in 28-team field at the Wendy’s Invitational.

Skylar White, Catawba Ridge Tennis: The Copperheads’ sophomore won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4 singles in 6-0 win over Northwestern, Oct. 3.

White also won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles in a 6-0 sweep of South Pointe, Oct. 4.

White is 9-4 in singles’ play for Catawba Ridge (10-3) this season.
