Vote for the Herald News High School Softball Player of the Week for May 16-21

FALL RIVER — Greater Fall River softball teams will be concluding the regular season this week. Players are helping their squads solidify a spot in the upcoming state tournament

Here's your chance to vote for the top players from last week.

Westport's Tess Silvia won The Herald News Softball Player of the Week for May 9-14. She won a close race with 20% of the vote.

Silvia's teammate Layla Bossie took second place with 19% of the vote and Somerset Berkley's Makenzie Jacob finished in third place with 12%.

Here are the nominees for the week of May 16-21:

Cianna Sylvia, Stang

Sylvia had three hits, scored two runs, and collected two RBI against Arlington Catholic.

Hailey Berube, Joseph Case

Berube pitched a complete-game, two-hitter against New Bedford. She also got the win against Wareham and Seekonk.

Brooke Perron, Joseph Case

Perron belted her first two varsity home runs and drove in three RBI against New Bedford. She also had three hits against Wareham.

Emera Marcello, Joseph Case

Marcello had a pair of hard-hit doubles, scored two times and knocked in three RBI against New Bedford. She also had two hits and two RBI against Seekonk.

Hannah Martin, Diman

Martin went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI against Westport.

Patryce Vital, Diman

Vital had a pair of hits, including a three-run run home run against West Bridgewater.

Emily Curran, Durfee

Curran pitched all 13 innings against Dartmouth and had three hits on the offense.

Niyah Boone, Durfee

Boone had three hits and scored three runs against Dartmouth. She had three singles against New Bedford.

Mia Jacob, Durfee

Jacob had three hits and scored three runs against Dartmouth.

Laney Martin, SBR

Martin pitched the three scoreless innings against Old Rochester, allowing no hits, no runs while striking out seven. She also had two doubles and an RBI. Martin also pitched a shutout against Dartmouth and got a win against Apponequet.

Gabriella Nugent, SBR

Nugent swung the big stick against Old Rochester, finishing with a two- run home run, double, single and four RBI. She had three hits against Apponequet.

Makenzie Jacob, SBR

Jacob had a pair of hits, including a grand slam, a double, walked two times and had four RBI against Dartmouth.

Alexis Ridge, SBR

Ridge belted a two-run home run and walked two times against Dartmouth.

Mackenzy Ponte, Westport

Ponte collected the win in the circle against Avon, striking out 11 batters.

Peyton Mahjoory, Westport

Mahjoory finished with a pair of hits, including a double and a home run against Avon.
