The high school winter season is underway for Greater Fall River teams.

Every week during the school year The Herald News will hold a vote for the Player of the Week.

Bishop Stang hockey player Quinn Pine won the Player of the Week honors for Jan. 10-16. Pine, who collected three goals and an assist against Cardinal Spellman, received 21% percent of the vote to take first place.

Somerset Berkley’s Corryn Fisher finished second (20%), followed by Diman's vEmma Mederios (12%).

This poll, which ends on Jan. 29, involves hockey, swimming, indoor track, boys and girls basketball players.

Here are the nominees for the week of Jan.17-23:

BOYS BASKETBALL

Jeyden Espinal, Durfee

Espinal netted a team-high 20 points in win over New Bedford. He also had 15 points against Brockton.

Jevon Holley, Durfee

Holley added 20 points in the win against New Bedford.

Ethan Dias, Somerset Berkley

Dias had 38 points and 18 rebounds against Bourne. He also had 30 points and pulled down 21 rebounds against Old Rochester.

Jah Stephenson, Connolly

Stephenson netted 20 points against Avon.

Mason Humphrey, Connolly

Humphrey added 19 points aganinst Avon.

Luis Vega Jr., Bishop Stang

Vega JR. had 21 points, four assists and four rebounds against Dartmouth.

Alex Krynicki, Connolly

Krynicki scored 26 points against Holbrook. He also had a game-high 23 points against Diman.

Hayden Cayton, Joseph Case

Cayton led all scorers against Wareham with 22 points.

Domanick Vitorino, Westport

Vitorino poured in a game-high 22 points against West Bridgewater. He also netted 15 points against Greater New Bedford.

Hunter Brodeur, Westport

Brodeur added 15 points against Greater New Bedford.

Aidan Rock, Westport

Rock had a game-high 22 points against Bristol-Plymouth.

Colby Tetrault, Diman

Tetrault netted 16 points against Tri-County.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Brooke Orton, Joseph Case

Orton scored a career-high 34 points against league opponent Fairhaven.

Emma Mederios, Diman

Mederios tossed in a career-high 28 points against Southeastern.

Maggie Pabst, Connolly

Pabst was top scorer for Connolly with 18 points against Avon. She also had 22 points against Holbrook.

Bridget Markey, Bishop Stang

Markey had a game-high 13 points, five rebounds and three steals against Dartmouth.

Nugent poured a team-high 15 points against Greater New Bedford.

Landry Caron, Durfee

Caron had a team-high 15 points against Brockton.

Kate Carreau, Bishop Stang

Carreau collected a team-high 20 points and five assists against Cardinal Spellman.

HOCKEY

Max Aguiar, Somerset Berkley

Aguiar netted a pair of goals against Dighton-Rehoboth/Seekonk. He also had three assists against Bourne.

Brandon Silva, Somerset Berkley

Silva made 24 saves in net against Taunton.

Justin Gouveia, Bishop Stang

Gouveia had a hat trick against Nantucket.

Evan Barbosa, Diman

Barbosa scored a pair of goals and had two assists against Greater New Bedford.

Jacob Almeida, Diman

Almeida scored a pair of goals and had two assists against Greater New Bedford.

SWIMMING

Benjamin Hankerson, Durfee

Hankerson qualified for the South Sectional in the 50 freestyle, won the 100 breaststroke and swam on the winning 200 free relay team against Old Rochester.

Yasin Mahmoud, Durfee

Mahmoud was the lone double winner for Durfee against Bridgewater-Raynham.

Emma McDonnell, Durfee

McDonnell won two events (100 breaststroke, 50 free) against Old Rochester.

Aimee Tiebout, Durfee

Tiebout took first place in her events (500 free, 200 IM) against Old Rochester.

INDOOR TRACK

Jacob Cookinham, Bishop Stang

Cookinham took first place in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 64-00.25.

Matthew Moreau, Somerset Berkley

Moreau was a double winner in the 55 dash and 55 hurdles. He also placed second in the high jump against Apponequet.

Elena Cabral, Somerset Berkley

Cabral was a double winner against Apponequet.

Lauren Rothwell, Somerset Berkley

Rothwell was a double winner against Apponequet.
