It's time to vote for the Herald-Tribune Athlete of the Week for Jan. 17-22.

Nominees are chosen from scores and stats emailed in by area coaches during the week or by nominations made by coaches. Voting begins Monday and closes at 11 a.m. Friday. Coaches can email scores to htincoming@gmail.com.

Here are the nominees for Jan. 17-22.

Girls Basketball

• Jamie Springstead, Saint Stephen's. The senior scored 32 points in the Falcons' win over Venice.

• Krystal Montas, Riverview. She had 7 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 blocks in the Rams win over Lithia Newsome.

• Kari Barrett, Cardinal Mooney. The freshman scored 21 points in the Cougars' victory over Booker.

Boys Basketball

• Malik Banks, Southeast. He scored 24 points in the Seminoles' win over Saint Stephen's.

• Connor Heald, Cardinal Mooney. He scored 28 points in the Cougars' victory over Lemon Bay.

• Jason Jackson, Riverview. He had 23 points and 3 rebounds in the Rams' win over Booker.

Girls Soccer

• Presley Gaberseck, Sarasota. She had three goals in a victory over North Port.

• Maddison Malanowicz, Parrish Community. She had two goals and an assist in the Bulls' victory over Bell Creek.
