Vote for the Journal & Courier high school athlete of the week for May 16-21

There were plenty of high school sports highlight performances from the week of May 16-21. Below are six of the best from the week in this track and field edition.

Alli Holder, Faith Christian track and field

The Eagles junior broke her own school record in high jump by clearing a state standard 5 feet, 4 inches to win the event in the Harrison Sectional. Holder also finished third in the 400 meters.

Michael Holsclaw, Lafayette Jeff track and field

Holsclaw was the individual sectional champion in the high jump and long jump at West Lafayette.

Henny Schminke, West Lafayette track and field

The Red Devil sophomore earned three individual sectional titles at Harrison, placing first in the 800 meters and anchoring winning 1,600 and 3,200 relays.

Colin Seymour, Twin Lakes track and field

Seymour hit a state standard, winning the 100 meters at the Benton Central Sectional in 10.91 seconds. The Indian senior also won the 300-meter hurdles in 41.64 seconds and anchored Twin Lakes' victorious 400 relay team.

Alexis Troxel, McCutcheon track and field

The junior set a school record in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 7 inches to win the event at the Harrison Sectional.

Harrison Wealing, Benton Central track

The Bison senior won the 1,600 meters at the Benton Central Sectional, while also being a part of a first-place 3,200 relay and finishing second in the 3,200 open. He helped provide 28 points that led BC to its first boys track sectional title since 2013.
