Alex Kibler of Morris Catholic voted Morris/Sussex Athlete of the Week for May 29-June 4

After four days of voting, Morris Catholic junior pitcher Alex Kibler has been selected as the Morris/Sussex Athlete of the Week for May 29-June 4.

Kibler pitched a complete-game, one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts in Morris Catholic’s 10-0 win against Timothy Christian in the NJSIAA Non-Public B playoffs on May 31.

Here were the other nominees:

Hailey Errichiello

Roxbury sophomore pitcher

Errichiello allowed nine hits, five walks and four earned runs, striking out 34, in 20 innings. She earned victories against Nutley in a two-day, 13-inning Group 3 semifinal and versus Steinert as Roxbury earned its first Group 3 championship since 1992.

Jordan Robinson

Morristown senior sprinter/jumper

Robinson cleared 5-foot-8 to win the North 1, Group 4 high jump and break the 8-year-old sectional record by two inches. She also placed third in the 400 and fourth in the 200, all on Saturday, helping Morristown place second.

Nick Shuhet

Mountain Lakes junior pitcher

Shuhet was 4-for-6 with two intentional walks, a double, a home run, four runs scored and three RBI in the Lakers' two playoff victories.

Ella Tucker

Madison sophomore sprinter

Tucker won triple gold at the NJSIAA North 2, Group 2 championships this weekend. She was first in the 100 (12.67), 200 (26.14) and 400 (1:00.13). She also anchored the Dodgers' third-place 4x400.

Brian Walsh

Mendham junior hurdler/jumper

Walsh qualified for the NJSIAA Group 3 Championships in all four of his events. He finished third in the long and triple jumps, fifth in high jump, and sixth in the high hurdles at North 2, Group 3 on the weekend.

Ryan Wehrle

Montville junior shortstop

Wehrle went 3-for-8 with a double, two walks, three runs scored and five RBI as Montville wrapped up its regular season by defeating Cedar Grove, then beat Sparta and Pascack Valley in NJSIAA North 1, Group 3. Wehrle drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth as the Mustangs beat Pascack Valley, 6-5, on Saturday.
