After four days of voting, Lenape Valley junior guard Laney Kenny has been selected as the Morris/Sussex Athlete of the Week for Jan. 2-8.
Kenny averaged 15.3 points and 4.3 steals as the Patriots went 1-2 last week.
Here were the other nominees:
Henry Bysshe, Pope John junior swimmer
Bysshe qualified for the NJSIAA Meet of Champions in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle. He is undefeated against NJAC competition this season.
Katie Gorski, Montville junior guard
Gorski averaged 20 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots in Montville's three games last week, going 1-2.
John Postma, High Point/Wallkill Valley sophomore swimmer
Postma broke the team records in the individual medley and 200-yard freestyle in the co-op team's two losses after Winter Break.
Alex Reigle, Madison junior forward
Reigle recorded two double doubles in the road this week. She had 13 points, 12 rebounds, two steals and two blocks in the Dodgers' 48-41 victory at Morris Knolls on Tuesday. She also had 10 points, 18 rebounds, four steals and two blocks as Madison defeated host Mendham Friday.
Leah Stecker, Morristown Beard senior forward
Stecker scored four goals in a 9-0 defeat of Westfield on Tuesday. The final goal gave her 100 career points in 52 games.
Grace Soltes, West Morris senior forward
Soltes averaged 20 points, six rebounds, two blocks, 1.5 steals and two assists as the Wolfpack went 1-1 since Winter Break.
