Meet this week’s nominees for the News & Observer high school athlete of the week.

Kiera Bartholomew, North Raleigh Christian golf: The Knights’ junior shot a 5-under-par 66 to win the TISAC Conference title at Raleigh Golf Association Oct. 19.

Bartholomew earned TISAC Conference player of the year for her efforts.

Bartholomew is also a top junior golfer, currently ranked No. 2 in the state, according to the Tarheel Youth Golf Association).

Cam Chatmon, Green Level football: The 5-foot-10, 165-pound senior running back had 204 yards and four touchdowns on 20 carries, all in the first half, to lead Green Level to a 44-21 win at Green Hope Oct. 22.

Chatmon is averaging 118.5 yards per game and 6.2 yards per carry for Green Level (2-7) this season.

He also excels in the classroom, where Chatmon boasts a 4.27 grade-point average.

Olivia Corcoran, Green Hope tennis: The Falcons’ sophomore won the 4A Mideast Regional singles’ title beating Jordan’s Samantha Slowik 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 at Pinehurst, Oct. 23. Slowik was previously unbeaten.

Corcoran came back from 4-5 in the final set to win the match.

Corcoran is 19-2 in singles’ play and 10-1 in doubles for Green Hope.

Isiah Descourouez, Middle Creek football: The 6-3, 190-pound junior linebacker had 15 tackles, including one stop for a loss, and one sack to lead Middle Creek to a 48-13 win at Apex Friendship Oct. 22.

Descourouez, being recruited by Charlotte, Duke, East Carolina and Elon, has 71 tackles and six sacks for a Middle Creek team (7-2) that has won six straight games.

Sam Dewar, North Raleigh Christian Cross Country: The Knights’ junior won the TISAC boys’ cross country title running a 16:30.50 at WakeMed Complex in Cary Oct. 21.

The North Raleigh Christian boys’ cross country team also finished third-place in the same race.

Jenna Kim, Durham Academy Golf: The Cavaliers’ seventh-grader shot a 4-under-par 67 to help lead the Durham Academy girls’ golf team to the TISAC Conference championship at Raleigh Golf Association Oct. 19.

Durham Academy shot a school record 208 (five-under par) as Kim (67) and teammates Saia Rampersaud (68) and Ona Lukes (73) also contributed to the lowest score in TISAC tournament history.

Kim had five birdies and 12 pars in her round.

Skyler Locklear, Cleveland football: The 6-foot, 185-pound senior quarterback completed 13-of-20 passes for 256 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 105 yards and another score on five carries to lead Cleveland to a 50-21 win over Garner Oct. 22.

Locklear, an Austin Peay State University commit, has completed 79-of-127 passes for 1,361 yards and 14 touchdowns, while rushing for another 470 yards and 11 scores for a Cleveland team that is still perfect at 8-0 this season.

Sarah Mitchell, Apex cross-country: The Cougars’ ran an 18:04.60 to win the South Wake 4A Conference title in dominant fashion beating the field by 1:37 at WakeMed Park in Cary Oct. 20.

The Apex girls’ cross country team finished in third-place at the conference championships.

Jack O’Tuel, Thales Academy Apex cross-country: The Titans’ sophomore ran an 18:38, finishing one step ahead of St. Thomas More Academy’s Ben Doran to win the Raleigh Area Athletic Conference (RAAC) title at WakeMed Complex in Cary Oct. 22.

O’Tuel also led the Thales Academy Apex boys’ cross country team to their second straight league title.

Marco Patierno, Heritage football: The 6-2, 215-pound senior had a big impact on both sides of the ball as Heritage beat Wakefield 37-18 Oct. 22.

Patierno had five catches for 119 yards and two touchdowns as a wide receiver, while making eight tackles from his middle linebacker position in the Wakefield victory.

Patierno has 114 tackles, three sacks and three interceptions, while catching 18 passes for 297 yards and four touchdowns for Heritage (8-1) this season.

Ian Rouse, Jordan cross-country: The Falcons’ junior ran a personal-best 15:45.30 to win the DAC VII Conference title at WakeMed Complex in Cary Oct. 20.

Rouse, who broke 16 minutes for the first time ever, also led the Jordan boys’ cross country team to a third-place finish at the conference championships.

Krister Sjoblad, Athens Drive cross-country: The Jaguars’ junior ran a 15:51.90 to win the CAP 6 Conference title at WakeMed Complex Oct. 19.

Sjoblad won the conference championship race by 10 seconds, while leading the Athens Drive boys’ cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the same event.

Tyler Surface, Millbrook Cross Country: The Wildcats’ sophomore ran a 15:47.38 to win the NAC 6 Conference title at WakeMed Complex in Cary Oct. 18.

Surface, who won the race by 25 seconds, also led the Millbrook boys’ cross country team to a conference title the same meet.

R.J. Vick, East Wake Football: The 6-foot, 146-pound senior had eight catches for 218 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-32 overtime loss at South Johnston Oct. 22.

Vick as 42 catches for 1,242 yards and 18 touchdowns receiving, while also rushing for two touchdowns and returning two kicks for scores for East Wake (3-6) this season.

Abby Weber, Chapel Hill cross-country: The Tigers’ senior won the DAC VII Conference title by 25 seconds, running a season-best 18:25.70 at WakeMed Complex in Cary, Oct. 20.

Weber’s efforts also helped the Chapel Hill girls’ cross country team to a conference title.
