River Dell voted North Jersey Football Team of the Week for Week 6

After four days of voting, River Dell has been selected as the North Jersey Football Team of the Week for Week 6.

The Golden Hawks (3-3) scored three TD in the fourth to upset Ramapo, 28-27. Senior Jake Sconza scored on a 1-yard run and senior Alejandro Carballeda added the extra point to win it. Sconza threw for 212 yards and two TD. Senior Max Froonjian caught 11 passes for 168 yards, including fourth-quarter scores of 20 and 56 yards, and had an interception and fumble recovery.

Here were the other nominees:

Fort Lee

The Bridgemen (4-1) registered back-to-back shutouts for the first time in decades. They beat Dwight Morrow, 39-0, after a 42-0 win over Ferris. Senior Tajon Burns ran for 122 yards and two TD, and junior Aidan Colon ran for 89 yards and a score against Dwight Morrow. Senior Raymend Lao threw three TD passes, including scores to Burns and senior Isiah Stang.

Glen Rock

The Panthers (5-1) are off to their best start since 2017 after rallying to defeat Hasbrouck Heights in overtime, 14-7. Senior Andrew Knight scored on a 1-yard run in OT and the defense got a stop to secure the win. Knight’s 23-yard TD pass to senior John Atme and sophomore John Iachetti’s extra point tied the score in the fourth, 7-7. Senior Luke Famularo made 12 tackles.

Paramus Catholic

The rebuilding Paladins (2-4) produced their first signature win under new coach and alum Greg Russo, 20-17, over state powerhouse Seton Hall Prep. Senior quarterback Kievon Harper ran for 92 yards and two first-half TD and senior Michael Sorrentino kicked field goal of 31 and 21 yards. Harper threw for 188 yards, including 127 to senior Justus Diaz-Rinaldi.

Park Ridge

The Owls (5-1) registered their most points of the season with a 41-20 victory over Waldwick/Midland Park. Junior Cole Hughes ran for 147 yards and a TD and threw for 132 yards, including scores to junior Jacob Shannon and junior Michael Montgomery. Hughes also had 12 tackles and forced a fumble. Junior Luke Macfie ran for 140 yards and three scores.

Passaic

The Indians (2-5) snapped a five-game losing streak with a 20-14 victory over Kennedy. Senior Jameil Chalmers carried 17 times for 240 yards and scored twice, including a 50-yard score. Senior Brent Rojas threw a 15-yard score to senior Rajet Levister. Senior Armando Cardona had 13 tackles, Levister six and junior Joel Irrizarri five.

Passaic Tech

The Bulldogs (6-1) continued to ride their stellar defense in a 21-3 victory over Clifton. Junior Trashon Dye had 11 tackles and junior Jordan Alston 10. The Bulldogs scored 21 unanswered points, with Dye scoring on a 1-yard run, senior lineman Omar Kahok recovering a fumble in the end zone, and junior Travon Dye, Trashon’s brother, scoring on a 1-yard run.
