After three days of voting, Westwood junior point guard Camellia Brown has been selected as the North Jersey Girls Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 10-16.
Brown helped the cardinals to victory over Pascack Hills, Ridgefield Park and Emerson. For the week, she averaged 17.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 4.3 steals per game.
Here were the other nominees:
Demarest senior guard
The four-year starter averaged 14 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 3.5 assists during a 2-1 week, including an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double against Dwight-Englewood.
Eastside junior guard
In helping the Ghosts (6-1) stretch their win streak to five, Brown-Cobb averaged 9.7 assists in three games with a high of 11 against rival Kennedy. She also totaled 29 points and 17 rebounds.
Dumont senior point guard
Heaney has been a big part of the Huskies’ 7-1 start, which equaled their 2021 COVID-season record. In three games, she averaged 14 points, 4 assists and 4 steals and shot 50 percent (6-of-12) from three.
Immaculate Conception junior guard
Javier averaged 18.3 points during a 3-0 week, including a win over Hasbrouck Heights to give the Blue Wolves the NJIC Meadowlands Division lead. She also drained six 3-pointers.
Hasbrouck Heights sophomore forward
In four games, Russo averaged 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.3 blocks for the 9-1 Aviators. Her week culminated with a monster triple-double against Wood-Ridge (15 points, 12 rebounds, 13 blocks).
