Annie Leonard voted North Jersey Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 18-24

From 2021: Kay Slott (27) had both goals in Ridgewood's 2-0 win over Ramsey in the Bergen County girls soccer semifinals.

After four days of voting, Glen Rock freshman goalie Annie Leonard has been selected as the North Jersey Soccer Player of the Week.

Leonard has been lights out for the Panthers, who are the only North Jersey girls soccer team that hasn't allowed a goal this season. She totaled 16 saves in three shutouts last week, including 11 stops in a 1-0 victory over Fair Lawn in the opening round of the Bergen County tournament.

Here were the other nominees:

Lia Cruz

North Arlington junior forward

Cruz became the first high school soccer player from Bergen County to score inside Red Bull Arena when she netted the winner in the second half last Tuesday against Lyndhurst. She accounted for four goals and two assists last week in three North Arlington victories.

Kat Slott

Ridgewood senior forward

Slott kept the Maroons unbeaten with three goals and three assists last week. The Boston University commit has been a consistent source of offense with points in all six matches this season.

Brianna Starling

Wayne Valley senior goalie

Starling has upheld the Indians' tradition of productive keepers with five shutouts in seven games this year. She stopped 16 of 17 shots in three matches last week and helped Wayne Valley take down crosstown rival Wayne Hills in a rematch of last year's Passaic County final.

Andrew Armstrong

Pompton Lakes junior forward

The Cardinals speedy forward chipped in two goals apiece in consecutive wins over Butler, Hawthorne and Eastern Christian. That gives him a team-high 11 goals this season and 35 for his career.

Sean Langley

River Dell senior midfielder/forward

Langley accounted for all the Golden Hawks offense on Saturday by picking up a career-high five points on two goals and three assists. He added a goal and two helpers earlier in the week against Indian Hills.

Tyler Wise

Lyndhurst junior forward

Wise packed a season's worth of offense into one week by getting nine goals and three assists for the Golden Bears. He set a personal best with four goals on Friday against Weehawken.
