Olivia Dragone voted North Jersey Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 3-9
After four days of voting, Passaic Tech junior midfielder Olivia Dragone has been selected as the North Jersey Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 3-9.
It was a big week for Dragone and the Bulldogs, who won two games in the Passaic County tournament and one in the NJTAC. She racked up three goals and six assists.
Here were the other nominees:
Noelle Haskell
Immaculate Heart senior goalie
Haskell picked up three shutouts in six days while helping the Blue Eagles advance to the BCWCA semifinals. Ten of her 14 saves came in an overtime win over Lohud's No. 1 team, Albertus Magnus.
Isabella Winn
Ridgewood junior midfielder
Winn sent the Maroons back to the Bergen County semifinals by scoring a hat trick on Saturday against Pascack Valley. She totaled five goals and four assists on the week for unbeaten Ridgewood, including a two-point performance against Ramapo in a possible championship preview.
Andrew Armstrong
Pompton Lakes junior forward
Armstrong lifted the Cardinals into the Passaic semifinals by scoring a goal and setting up the overtime winner in a 2-1 victory over Passaic Tech. He's up to 17 goals this season after chipping in four last week.
John Catalan
Cliffside Park senior goalie
Catalan stopped a penalty kick in back-to-back shootout wins, including one in the top of the seventh round on Sunday moments before his team advanced. The Red Raiders conceded only one goal in three matches last week.
Cameron Linnington
Ridgewood sophomore forward
Linnington made a name for himself last week in his first appearance in the Bergen County tournament. The Maroons striker had all four goals in a BCT win over Westwood and added two more in a 3-2 win over Demarest in the quarterfinal round.
Kyle Tencza
Bergen Catholic senior goalie
Tencza saved the game for the Crusaders on Sunday by reaching behind him to rob Ramsey's Vincent Tredici in tight during the first overtime session. He finished with five saves in the 1-0 quarterfinal win and 10 stops in 11 chances last week.
