Below are the nominees for The Herald’s high school athlete of the week.

Jackson Burnham, Nation Ford boys’ basketball: The 6-foot-3 senior scored 26 points, had two rebounds and one steal in a 56-52 win at Rock Hill, Jan. 16.

Burnham also scored 17 points and grabbed two rebounds in a 73-57 win over Spring Valley, Jan. 19.

Burnham is averaging 23.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game for Nation Ford (9-10) this season.

Kaitlyn Garvin, Legion Collegiate girls’ basketball: The 5-foot-5 sophomore scored 54 points in four games as Legion Collegiate went 3-1 last week with wins over Atlantic Collegiate Academy (53-35, Jan. 17), 1 of 1 Red Academy (64-47, Jan. 18) and Cheraw (52-39, Jan. 20) and a loss to Porter Ridge (48-36, Jan. 16).

Garvin had her best game of the week with 23 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win over 1 of 1 Red Academy, Jan. 18.

Garvin is averaging 9.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game for Legion Collegiate (6-8) this season.

Zyan Hager, Catawba Ridge boys’ basketball: The 6-foot-2 senior scored 18 points, had seven rebounds, eight assists and three steals to lead Catawba Ridge to a 78-47 win at Lancaster, Jan. 16.

Hager also scored 16 points, had four assists, three steals and two rebounds in a 64-38 win over Indian Land, Jan. 19.

Hager is averaging 19.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.6 steals for a Catawba Ridge team (17-2) that has won seven consecutive games this season.

Chloe Hudson, Rock Hill girls’ basketball: The 5-foot-9 sophomore scored 26 points, including six three-pointers, to go with seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks in a 69-24 win over Nation Ford, Jan. 16.

Hudson followed that up with 11 points, including three more, three-pointers, eight rebounds, three steals and two assists in a 50-36 victory at Blythewood.

Hudson leads the state with 81 three-pointers this season.

Hudson is averaging 16.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 2.2 assists for a Rock Hill squad (17-3) that has won 11 games in a row this season.

Kaleigh Lucas, South Pointe girls’ basketball: The 5-foot-4, eight-grader, scored 21 points to go with five assists, seven steals and three rebounds in an 80-10 win at Indian Land, Jan. 16.

Lucas scored 18 points and had two steals in an 81-19 victory at rival, Northwestern, Jan. 19.

The next day, Lucas had 13 points, three assists, four steals and a rebound in a 72-16 win over Garinger.

Lucas is averaging 12.7 points, 2.8 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game for a South Pointe team (17-2) that has won 15 straight games this season.

Mason Mitchell, Northwestern boys’ basketball: The 6-foot-5 senior scored 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 71-50 win at York, Jan. 19.

Mitchell also scored six points, had seven rebounds, three blocks and a steal in a 60-47 loss to South Pointe, Jan. 19.

Mitchell is averaging 13.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists and two steals per game for Northwestern (10-10) this season.

Stephen Quinn, Westminster Catawba boys’ basketball: The 6-foot-2 senior scored 24 points, including seven three-pointers, with two rebounds and two assists to lead Westminster Catawba to a 59-46 win over SouthLake Christian, Jan. 19.

Quinn also scored five points, had six rebounds and four assists in a 43-42 loss at Metrolina Christian, Jan. 16.

The previous night, Quinn scored 24 points, grabbed six steals, two rebounds, three assists and two blocks in a 63-62 win over Concord Academy.

Westminster Catawba is 18-7 overall this season.

Reagan Reyes, Fort Mill girls’ basketball: The 5-foot-5 senior scored 11 points, had four rebounds, two assists and two steals to help Fort Mill to a 46-45 win at Clover, Jan. 19.

Reyes also scored 13 points, had four rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 72-58 loss at Spring Valley, Jan. 16.

Fort Mill is 15-5 overall this season.

Tamia Watkins, Andrew Jackson girls’ basketball: The 6-foot-1 junior scored 23 points, had 14 rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 66-27 win at Cheraw, Jan. 16.

Watkins followed that up with a triple-double with 36 points 10 rebounds, 10 steals, five assists and a block in a 96-27 victory over York Prep, Jan. 18.

Watkins is averaging 25.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 4.1 steals and 2.1 blocks per game for an Andrew Jackson team (14-4) that has won eight games in a row this season.

Marcia Watt, Clover girls’ basketball: The 5-foot-6 senior scored 13 points, including four three-pointers and had four assists in a 54-41 win over Blythewood, Jan. 16.

The next night, Watt had 10 points, four rebounds, three steals and one assist in a 55-54 loss at Spring Valley.

Watt finished off the week with 11 points, three steals and two assists in a 46-45 loss to Fort Mill, Jan. 19.

Watt is averaging 11.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 3.3 steals for Clover (13-6) this season.
