Here are this week’s candidates.

Sophia Bussell, Monroe girls basketball: Set school records with 36 points and 10 3-pointers in leading the Trojans to their first victory of the season.

Lila Clements, New Boston Huron girls basketball: Scored a career-high 28 points, including all 7 of her team’s points in overtime, against Grosse Ile.

Teddy Gault, Summerfield boys basketball: Scored a career-high 24 points in a win over Allen Park Cabrini. Then had 11 in a win over Jefferson.

Andrew Hollinger, Bedford boys basketball: Rang up 22 points and 11 rebounds including the game-winning basket against Ann Arbor Pioneer, then posted 21 points and 12 rebounds against Ann Arbor Huron.

Jackson Iocoangeli, Erie Mason boys basketball: Scored career-high 21 points in his first start of the season.

Kole Katschor, Dundee wrestling: Was named Most Valuable Wrestler at Monroe County Sheriff’s Invitational after beating state placers from last season in the semifinals and finals to win the 157-pound championship.

Ben Przytula, Gibraltar Carlson wrestling: Won the heavyweight championship at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Invitational in the first wrestling action of his high school career. He played basketball for Carlson the previous two nights.

Destanee Smith, Summerfield girls basketball: Was Summerfield’s leading scorer in three victories during the week, including 19 points, 10 rebounds and 7 steals Friday night against Erie Mason.
