Winner of The News Tribune’s Athlete of the Week (Jan. 10 to 15)

Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s high school Athlete of the Week poll (Jan. 10 to 15). Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.

This week’s winner is:

Taylor Schwab, Gig Harbor

She led the Tides with 17 points in a 70-44 win over Yelm last Wednesday night, continuing her strong guard play for first-place Gig Harbor in the 3A South Sound Conference.

Asjon Anderson, Mount Tahoma: Continued his torrid scoring pace with a 33-point effort, shooting 61 percent from the field in a win over Lakes. Added seven rebounds, six assists, four steals and a block.

Steffan Gale, Mount Tahoma: Hauled in 17 rebounds, scored two points and added five assists, three steals and three blocks in win over Lakes.

Demarea Garman-Wilkins, Foss: Scored 25 points and had seven rebounds and a steal in win over Franklin Pierce.

Darrell Gipson Jr., Timberline: Sophomore had 15 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and a block in 82-60 win over Central Kitsap. In win over Gig Harbor, scored a layup late in the game to seal Blazers’ win.

Brooklyn Hicks, Timberline: Scored 23 points in 60-57 win over previously undefeated Gig Harbor, passing 1,000 career points in the process.

Tre Blassingame, Auburn: Scored 25 points in 72-47 win over Tahoma on Saturday in NPSL play.

Kaden Hansen, Auburn: Scored 20 points in 72-47 win over Tahoma on Saturday in NPSL play.

Carson Talbert, Tahoma: Scored 20 points in 72-47 loss to Auburn on Saturday in NPSL play.

Trent Williams, Curtis: Scored 18 points and hauled in six rebounds in 65-51 win over Bellarmine on Saturday.

Tre Walker, Silas: Scored 18 points in 73-57 win over Spanaway Lake in 3A PCL matchup.

Taveonte Webster, Silas: Scored 18 points in 73-57 win over Spanaway Lake in 3A PCL matchup.

Ciona Wells, Lincoln: Abes’ sophomore guard scored 18 points in 49-41 win over Bonney Lake in a matchup of the top two teams in the 3A PCL.

Ty Edwards, Sumner: Spartans’ guard scored 17 points in 59-33 win over rival Puyallup on Friday.

Morgan Greene, White River: Scored 27 points in 52-45 win over rival Enumclaw to push White River’s league-winning streak to 107 games.

Wyatt Ulsh, Lincoln: Led all scorers with 27 points in Lincoln’s 53-49 win over rival Silas on Thursday.

Jazmyn Stone, Annie Wright: Senior scored 26 points in 42-31 win over Klahowya, including a perfect 14-of-14 from the free-throw line.

John Barbee Jr., Franklin Pierce: Scored a game-high 32 points in 72-67 win over Steilacoom in 2A SPSL play.

Alyson Deaver, Sumner: Scored 22 points in 88-20 rout of Curtis in 4A SPSL matchup.

Logan Stempniak, Kentwood: Averaged 23.6 points and 15.3 points over three games in the week: 19 points and 16 rebounds against Federal Way, 27 points and 11 rebounds against Kentridge and 25 points and 19 rebounds against Kentlake.

Trevontay Smith, Yelm: Against Gig Harbor, had 18 points, four rebounds, two assist, two blocks and six steals and against Central Kitsap, scored 32 points and added seven steals, four rebounds and two assists.
