It's time to take a look at the standout performers from Section V.

Your vote will determine who determine who will be the Player of the Week for Jan 3-9. The players' credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will be announced on our Instagram page Wednesday morning.

Joe Berenson

Webster Schroeder lightweight wrestled to his third first-place finish at a tournament this season, by winning the 126-pound weight class at the Red Jacket Invitational. Berenson, who also won at the Monroe County Championships and Schroeder's Matthew Marino Invitational, has a 19-1 record.

Ne’vaeh Buntley

The 5-11 sophomore scored a combined 39 points to help the Fairport girls basketball team to wins over Irondequoit and Rush-Henrietta and improve to 7-3.

Madalenn Fee

Red Jacket senior won a race and a field event during a track meet at Rochester Institute of Technology. Fee's victory in 1:43.29 in the 600 is fourth overall on the Section V girls leaderboard, No. 1 among runners at smaller schools. She high jumped 4 feet-9 inches.

Lauren Kingsley

The 6-2 junior scored 37 points for the Pavilion girls basketball team in wins over Warsaw and Livonia, grabbing 19 rebounds against Livonia and had 7 rebounds and 6 blocks against Warsaw to help the Golden Gophers improve to 7-0.

Norwood Hughes

Newark senior won three events during a track meet at Rochester Institute of Technology, including a field event. Hughes sped to second-place overall on the Section V boys 300-meter dash leaderboard with a race in 35.98. He jumped to fourth on the Section V long jump leaderboard after leaping 20 feet-7 3/4 inches. He also won the 55 dash in 6.78 seconds.

Libby Benner

The sophomore guard combined for 55 points, including 36 in a loss to Dansville, in two games as the Keshequa girls basketball team improved to 8-2.

Andrea Hurtado-Trejo

Williamson senior won the two shortest sprint events during an indoor track meet at Rochester Institute of Technology. Hurtado-Trejo ran the the 55-meter dash in 7.55 seconds. Her race of 42.91 seconds in the 300 dash is the season's fastest among sprinters at smaller schools in Section V and fourth overall.

Sean Smith

Senior scored 4 goals in a win over Portside Royals to help Penfield hockey improve to 7-1-1.

Churchville-Chili sophomore won the 55-meter dash and ran the season's fastest 300 dash by a girl in Section V during a track meet at Rochester Institute of Technology. Moore's 300 was in 40.64 seconds. Her 55 dash was 7.39.

Maddie Pitts

Victor senior arrived at an indoor track meet at Rochester Institute of Technology and won three events. Possibly Section V's most versatile female track athlete, Pitts won the 300 dash in 41.15 seconds, 55-meter hurdles (8.69) and high jump (5 feet-3 inches).

CJ Mangone

Senior scored four goals in two games this week, two in a win over Irondequoit and two in a win over Batavia Notre Dame United to help Aquinas improve to 10-1-0.

Brady Unger

The Red Raiders won a tight race to win the Monroe County league Division I title, and Unger, a junior at 160 pounds, led the way. Unger, who can be found high up in the New York Wrestling News state rankings, won all five of his matches at the Victor Ahonen Duals to move his season record to 22-2.

Damani Barley

The East High senior guard averaged 35 points through the first six games. He dropped a career-high 41 points, and handed out six assists, in a win over Edison on Jan. 4 for the 5-2 Eagles.

Roberto Echevarria

A senior guard at Northeast Douglass, Echevarria's career-high 33 points on eight 3-pointers led to a last-second win over Monroe on Friday night.

Mason Blankenberg

Wayne is 6-2 thanks to Blankenberg's second triple-double of the season. He recorded 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over Marcus Whitman on Friday night.

Max Schalm

McQuaid's senior center played an integral role in a win at East High Friday night, scoring seven of his game-high 23 points in the fourth to improve to 7-3.
