Nokomis football player voted Springfield high school athlete of the week
Nokomis football player Brenton Lyons was voted as the State Journal Register's athlete of the week.
Lyons earned 38 percent of the 2,259 votes, beating out Raymond Lincolnwood volleyball player Haelee Damm (26 percent). Full results are below.

The junior running back rushed 15 times for 135 yards and three touchdowns to lead Nokomis past Oblong 27-20 on Friday. Lyons had an 85-yard touchdown run and also had TD runs of 1 and 6 yards. He added two receptions for 42 yards and Nokomis evened its record at 4-4.

Galashky Blaise, Chatham Glenwood football
The senior running back rumbled for 175 yards on 15 carries and had TD runs of 10 and 53 yards to help Glenwood get to 6-2 in a 48-14 Central State Eight Conference win over Springfield High on Friday.

Isaac Crumrine, Riverton boys cross country
The junior dominated the Sangamo Conference boys cross country meet in 15 minutes, 22.30 seconds ahead of Williamsville seniors Avery Glasgow (15.55.6) and Daniel Giacomini (16:00.20) for the individual title.
Haelee Damm, Raymond Lincolnwood volleyball
The senior tallied eight aces, three kills and three digs in a 25-8, 25-11 in an MSM Conference victory over Mount Olive on Tuesday.
Parker Gillespie, Rochester football
The junior receiver totaled 96 yards of offense and two touchdowns in Class 4A No. 4 Rochester’s 42-14 Central State Eight Conference victory over Jacksonville at Rocket Booster Stadium on Friday. He finished with three carries for 51 yards and two catches for 45 yards.
Jake Hamilton, Chatham Glenwood boys soccer
The senior outside back scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Springfield High to help lock up the Central State Eight Conference title on Tuesday.
Brenden and Becca Heitzig, Lincoln cross country
Lincoln’s brother-sister cross country duo won the boys and girls Apollo Conference Meet races at Lake Land College on Tuesday. The senior Brenden bested the boys field with a time of 15 minutes, 6.6 seconds. The junior Becca beat Mahomet-Seymour's Ava Boyd by 41 seconds to claim the girls’ Apollo Conference title in 18:03.4.
Caleina Herman, Lutheran volleyball
The senior setter dialed up 37 assists in a 25-9, 22-25, 25-9 MSM Conference victory over Raymond Lincolnwood on Thursday. Her ace set up a 9-0 advantage in the third set and the Crusaders captured at least a share of the conference title. She also had 39 assists in a 25-19, 20-25, 25-21 nonconference win over Hartsburg-Emden on Tuesday.

Jackson Kern, Auburn football
The senior wideout caught five balls for 153 yards as Auburn beat Stanford Olympia 48-26 in a Sangamo Conference matchup on Friday. That included a 79-yard TD reception in the first period.
Colleen Zeibert, Rochester girls cross country
The senior standout finished in 18 minutes, 39.77 seconds and claimed the Central State Eight Conference girls cross country meet title at Lincoln Park on Saturday. The Rockets also captured the team title ahead of runner-up Chatham Glenwood.
