Vote for the Standard-Times Boys Athlete of the Week for Jan. 2-8

There were several top performances among SouthCoast’s boys athletes over the past week.

The winner of last week's poll was New Bedford's Alex Conde. The previous winner was GNB Voc-Tech's Brandon Borges.

Here’s your chance to vote for the top boys athlete for last week.

WRESTLING

Jose Bonilla, New Bedford

Bonilla took second place at 195 pounds during the Chad Antoch Memorial tournament. He also had a pin against Durfee.

Luis Garcia, New Bedford

Garcia won the championship at the Chad Antoch Memorial tournament at 113 pounds. He also had a pin against Durfee.

Mitchel Thompson, New Bedford

Mitchel won the championship at the Chad Antoch Memorial tournament at 160 pounds. He also got a pin against Durfee.

BOYS SWIMMING

Hunter Owen, Apponequet

Against Bridgewater-Raynham, Owen won the 200 freestyle (2:05.40) and 100 backstroke (1:08.79) and was on the winning 400 freestyle relay (4:10.65).

Alex Conde, New Bedford

Conde won two individual events – 200 IM (2:23.49) and 100 butterfly (1:03.02) – and was a part of two winning relays against Bishop Stang. He also won a pair of individual events – the 200 IM (2:19.44) and 100 butterfly (1:01.44) –-against Bishop Feehan.

Jake Gioiosa, New Bedford

Gioiosa won a pair of individual events – the 100 backstroke (1:15.61) and 500 freestyle (6:17.06) — and was on two winning relays against Bishop Stang. Against Bishop Feehan Gioiosa took second in the 100 butterfly (1:08.20) and 100 backstroke (1:12.94).

BOYS HOCKEY

Kai Andrade, Dartmouth

Andrade scored two goals, including the game-winner in Dartmouth’s 3-2 win over Apponequet.

Lucas DeSousa, Bishop Stang

DeSousa had a hand in both of Stang’s goals in a loss to Nauset by scoring one and assisting on another.

Justin Marques, ORR/Fairhaven

Marques had a goal and an assist in ORR’s win over Bourne.

Alec Marsden, ORR/Fairhaven

Marsden had a goal and an assist in ORR’s win over Bourne.

BOYS TRACK

Lowell Copps, Bishop Stang

Against St. John Paul II and Tri-County, Copps won the 1,000 (3:04.66) and 2-mile (12:18.66).

Andrew Weaver, Bishop Stang

Weaver took first in the mile (5:05.51) and long jump (17-03.75) against both St. John Paul II and Tri-County.

Josh Arruda, Fairhaven

In a win over Wareham, Arruda won the 1,000 (3:26) and mile (5:46).

Jarred Quan, GNB Voc-Tech

In a win over ORR, Quan won both the 55 and 300.

Owen Veira, GNB Voc-Tech

Veira won the high jump, 55 hurdles and 1,000 as Voc-Tech beat Old Rochester.

Nolan Bushnell, Old Rochester

Bushnell was first in the 1,000 (2:51.53) at the Freshman/Sophomore Meet.

Aiden Robert, Wareham

In a loss to Fairhaven, Robert won the 55 hurdles (8.1) and 55 dash (6.7).
