Who was The State Journal-Register's high school athlete of the week?

Riverton girls basketball player Tori Scales was voted as the State Journal Register's athlete of the week.

Scales earned 56 percent of the 9,753 votes, beating out Hillsboro girls basketball player Layne Rupert, (42 percent). The full results are below.

Scales, a senior guard, made three 3-pointers and finished with 17 points in a 56-44 win over Sangamon Valley/Buffalo Tri-City on Tuesday.

Madixx Morris, Sacred Heart-Griffin football

The junior receiver hauled in seven catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns in the Cyclones' 49-42 Class 4A semifinal win over Rochester on Friday to advance to the state championship game.

Alexis Wade, Mount Pulaski girls basketball

The junior guard scored a game-high 28 points and Mount Pulaski won its season-opening game with a 54-45 girls basketball victory over Stanford Olympia on Tuesday.

Kloe Froebe, Lincoln girls basketball

The sophomore guard scored 18 of her game-high 27 points in the first half en route to a 53-37 nonconference win over Rochester on Tuesday. Froebe converted nine field goals, including two 3-pointers.

Jayce Privia, Petersburg PORTA/A-C Central girls basketball

The sophomore guard made four 3-points and finished with a game-high 26 points in a 50-41 win over Clinton on Thursday.

Layne Rupert, Hillsboro girls basketball

The junior made 9 of 14 shots and scored a game-high 21 points in Hillsboro's 61-34 win over Mount Zion on Friday. She was 8-for-9 on 2-point attempts.
